DOM: Recent Bid &Offers: Auto Clear counterpart

Support Request:

Comparing performance of DOM with JigSaw (and others), there is a feature i miss in sierra.
I didn't found how to do it so it is probably something to implement.

When a new price is ticked , the counterpart recent order is then cleared in order to show a better diagonal comparison.

An Example: In the attached image, when 2 contracts are bought at 1982.50 back, diagonal counterpart at 1982.25 is then cleared. As no tick was executed there, it is a good indication of lack of interest.

Do you have a reference to the jigsaw documentation explaining this functionality?

This is a feature I am looking for also but wasn't able to clearly describe it.

You can find some relevant info at http://daytradr.jigsawtrading.com/index.html
Under the 'Depth & Sales' -> 'Current Trades' menu.

ya this is that feature: http://daytradr.jigsawtrading.com/dscurr.html it includes being able to leave a blank or '0' cell as well as a time component(2.5 seconds) to where it is still considered as 'not left' that price so dont reset.

Support, any update on this topic? Has this feature been added to Sierra DOM? If not, are there any plans to address this? This feature provides A LOT of information to experienced DOM trader about weakness / strength of the market.

I am planning to obtain Jigsaw license just because of this and need to make sure the advantage this information provides is NOT in fact offered by Sierra.

This is already implemented and available since 172x versions. The settings are at Trade -> Chart DOM Settings.

Thank you for update Ticinotrader. This is good news.

Have you compared this new functionality side by side with Jigsaw software?

Is there anything else in your opinion in Jigsaw that may not be available in SC?

Have you by any chance compared SC Markets Depth Heat Map to Jigsaw Vista View?

Yes, I have compared but not side-by-side, but based on what I remember and as I know how market depth (DOM) should work (because I do not use Jigsaw anymore since I switched to Sierra and TT, although I have a Jigsaw lifetime license).

For me, Sierra gives all the tools I need when trading order flow using the DOM. I do not miss and can not comment on the Jigsaw Powermeter, Smart gauge, etc tools, because I never used them and in my opinion they are not needed at all.

Re SC Historical Market Depth display vs Jigsaw Vista: I am 100% fine with Sierra's MD Depth charts, I think you will be too. I have not done a side by side comparison but I have lots of videos on youtube where you can see the Sierra Market Depth graphs in action.

Another things what you should consider when selecting between SC or JS (other than price) are the stability, support, added functions in SC, etc. And even more importantly the replay and sim trading capabilities if you are going to do trading drills or review trades.

So in brief: for me Sierra DOMs are the way to go.
Hope this helps.

Ticinotrader, thank you very much for a comprehensive answer. Truly helps.

Just curious...is there a particular reason you have switch to TT? I am familiar with Trading Technology platform, I do like it a lot and TT is considered to be one of the best in the industry along with CQG Integrated client. However, they are MAD expensive. As I understand, Sierra provides far better, flexible and advanced charting capabilities (including order entry and management functionality) which at least match other best platform in the industry. Was it the data quality and execution services that made you switch to TT?[/b]

We still need to review this, but if the conclusion is we have what is required, then that is good. Otherwise, it does not look difficult for us to make some small additions/changes to accomplish this.

Thank you support for doing a great job and reacting promptly on adding this feature.

There is one more functionality in Jigsaw that I was not able to find in SC DOM. When the trade is placed on Jigsaw DOM and the order is filled, the Current Traded Bid Volume and Current Traded Ask Volume are automatically reset to ZERO and the DOM is centered. This is done to clear the count of currently traded quantity at each level and to help monitor the development of the Order Flow since the trade was entered. While the Bid/ Ask Pulling / Stacking continue to show real-time activity, fresh reset of Currently Traded Bid / Ask provides clean and accurate representation of Order Flow direction.

Is there a way to make this functionality available in SC instead of manually resetting this every time? While manual reset may be useful in certain situations, it is almost 100% required if the account is flat and the new trade is placed to open a position.

Thank you.

In response to post # 22, yes this is not difficult to add. We will add an option for that.

This has been implemented but not yet released. Although the option is in the latest released version it does not yet do anything.

You still have to do a manual center . We want to keep that as a separate distinct command.
