I am on my first day of a Sierra Charts trial. I bought the $5 data for the data trial too. My chart is not updating in real time. I am connected, but I can't get the chart to update in real time. I can only get it to update if I disconnect and reconnect. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1499790184413.png

You did pay the 5 USD, but you did not activate the data feed here after you did that:
https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=ExchangeDataFeedFeatures

You need to do that and activate any exchanges you want real-time data for.

However, before doing that, make sure you understand CME policies:
Is Historical and Real-time Futures Data Included?

Do not activate the lower-cost CME exchange fees unless you have a supported trading account and Sierra Chart is connected to it.

I'm in the same boat. I have enabled Real-Time Data Connections and the higher priced Exchange Fees. Do I need a linked brokerage account to get my charts to update? If so, why the higher and lower pricings? Just to get Depth? Thank you.

You have enabled the "Full CME Group (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX) with Market Depth for nonprofessional Trading accounts", which is one of the Lower Cost Exchange options and requires an active trading account.

If you do not have an active trading account, you would need to enable the "Higher Cost" CME exchange options which are 94.5 USD per month per Exchange.

Thank you for the info. I have a trading account at Tradestation.

It looks like I can get $21 CBOT activation for real-time YM quotes which is what I need. I thought they merged with the CME.

Yes, you can get the CBOT mini exchange for 21 USD per month. There will be no cost until next month.
