One last question and then I'm golden. I can't find anywhere in the settings to change the backround color of the values in red at the top of the chart. I understand that the backround turns green when the market goes positive but I would like a steady white in any case.

I won't take up your time to say thank you in a separate post but thank you for answering all my questions. I've traded for a long time using other platforms but SC is growing on me.

Ah crap, after all of that I had one more question. Other than going full screen is there any way to hide the lines at the top of the charts:

And... one last thing. When the DOM is detached it should have its own window controls to minimize and close it. Somehow my DOM got maximized and filled my entire screen and the only way I could recover was to exit SC. Thankfully I save my work along the way so it wasn't too hard to get back to where I left off.

Could you please post an image of the chart you are referring to following these instructions:

Did you disable its title bar through the Chart menu?

Yes, thank you I must have disabled the title bar.

Here is a screenshot of the chart. I am asking how to change the backround color of the two red displays at the top of the chart which change to green when the market goes positive but are unreadable as they are.

This is controlled through the Graphics Settings window:
Graphics Settings

The color settings are Net Change Up, Net Change Down

Yes thank you I tried modifying those setting to white a while back, and there was no change on the chart. Perhaps the market needs to be open? I'll try then.

No, the market does not need to be open to change colors.

I didn't think so but then I have no explanation as to why this setting will not change when I have been able to modify any other color. I set both Net Change Up/Down to white, hit OK and Apply and nothing... still red.

Therefore, you are using the wrong Graphics Settings window. There are two of them. This is explained here:

There should be no problem with this. We tested this and the color changes go into effect immediately.

The learning curve is very steep for the new user as I'm sure you are aware. I'm sure I will know it as well as you do in time.
