The only way to make it slightly quicker is to add the Recalculate button to the tool bar:
General Settings >> Customize Toolbars

But you still need to focus the chart first.

In the latest non-CLR prerelease version, the new spreadsheets will detect a change at row 3 in the formula columns when using the Spreadsheet study and perform a full recalculate in the chart automatically.

I like the old way, when only first 10 bars quickly recalculated.
This is not good automatically to recalculate full chart - for me this would be a killer within my development, sometimes my recalculation takes >=5 minutes, I can't let it happen automatically(!) I prefer to control a start of recalculation by myself by pressing Ctrl+Insert whenever I need. Please take this into account.

If there is a problem with lengthy calculations, then we will address that. We would like to know with the new Spreadsheets in the non-CLR version, how long the calculations take.

Also another performance remark:
when I set No of rows to calculate lets say to 70k for 2-3 spreadsheets it takes some time to do calculations - this is ok, but I noticed that when I start SC platform, then same loading/calculation takes much longer, 2-3 times longer. In the status bar on top it's written 'Reading...' Up to me, reading of 70k rows few times from the disk should be much faster than calculation itself.

Please just keep this in mind. Maybe there is place for tuning.
I hope I made myself clear.

Thanks SC team!

We would expect this will be much improved in the non-CLR version.

I realize this is an extremely old thread, but I am also looking for a way to automatically recalculate the spreadsheet, in my case at a certain time each day. Changes to things in row 3 does not trigger a recalculation. I can't get anything to trigger it other than me manually selecting the option by menu or hotkey.

Is there a way to programmatically trigger a recalculate without having to add a custom study?

Also to be clear, changes in row 3 do relcalculate some things on the chart, but not everything. Any cell that "locks" a TRUE/FALSE state, does not get recalculated unless a manual recalculation is performed. A manual recalculation forces it to re-evaluate its condition and update the TRUE/FALSE status. This is the problem I'm encountering.

For a moment I thought using this feature might save me by forcing a true recalculation periodically:

Spreadsheet Study Inputs: Periodically Save Sheet as Text in Minutes

However I see no such capability in the Spreadsheet System study. Has it been removed? I'm on version 2124.

This will added to the next release. Although this is not going to cause any automatic recalculation.
