just a basic question about spreadsheets, how does one apply a new formula to the chart?
I thought all one has to do is have the modified formula in the top cell of the e.g New Entry column, and then go to the chart and press Insert button
But when I do that the cell reverts to the previous formula

Ok I see that issue.
Sorry, the cross reference to different sheets is confusing to me.
What is the best way to create a sheet where I can do the editing, viewing of data, etc on the same sheet, please?
thanks,
j

Set the Formula Source Sheet Number Input to 0 so it is automatically set to be the same as the Chart Number.

Another question about the use of the spreadsheets
I have a Spreadsheet System to run on 7 different timeframes, and will create a chart for each timeframe..
Do I need a separate scss for each, or may I use a different sheet # for each, under the same scss?
If the latter, imagine I will want to use Formula Source on each chart('s spreadsheet study) pointing to a different sheet #

OK thanks
regarding multiple time frames and charts
I am aware of Automated Trading Management: MaximumPositionAllowed
but believe that is per chart
Is there a way to set a limit of open (filled) positions across all charts?
So if there was a filled order in any of the charts, any spreadsheet study would not place another order until the open order was closed/exited.

Positions are tracked per Symbol and Trade Account and so Maximum Position Allowed applies to that.

Using a spreadsheet, is it possible to use BuyExit and SellExit with "Trade Management By Study"?
Perhaps if CancelAllWorkingOrdersOnExit are used?

BuyExit and SellExit would be initial stops and the study would ideally improve the stop loss when trending

I can see a potential issue canceling all child orders once trade is exited, as there is not a OCO group

What you really want to use are Attached Orders which can then be controlled by the Trade Management by Study study. Refer to:
Spreadsheet Systems, Alerts and Automated Trading: Initiating Trades with Auto-Trading and Using Manual or Attached Orders Exits

You will need to use CancelAllWorkingOrdersOnExit and all of the outstanding working orders will be canceled for the Symbol and Trade Account.

Hi
I'm not getting something in regards to how the price of the entry/exit order is set with an Auto trading study.
I get that rows KLMN are looking for true false
in which case a signal is drawn
and depending on study settings, the signal can be made end of candle, or "during the candle"
I get the order type can be set in the KLMN formula like this =IF($J$5 > 0, "L", "M").

But how does one set that Limit price to a value?
Say I wanted to set a limit (exit) price to low of past candle, which is in cell D4
Where do I put the D4 put on the sheet?

I have tried putting it in cell I23 "Limit or Stop Price - Buy Exit (L)"
but it doesnt seem to be working
Im guessing there is another way, as all the cells in the IJ columns mirror other settings or calls

The order prices are set through these cells in the J column:

OK and can i assume that formulas wont work there,
specifically thinking of having an OR statement with the target OR stop (exit) prices

You most definitely can use formulas in the order price cells.

ok i need to make the question clearer, sorry

In J22, I'd like to specify, basically, a bracket; a target exit price, OR if it stops out, a stop exit price.
I am able to do a single stop price in J22,
but using Or, or another operator/function there is no way to have both prices valid, so if either is met there is an exit, correct?
I'm guessing because i want to set two prices, and the cell specifies one price, not plural.

I realize that spreadsheet debugging is not available from SC support, understandably.
If that is the that case here, if another poster is able to answer, like the previously very helpful tomgilb (thanks), its appreciated.

I know brackets can be done in attached orders, but trying here to specifically set stops & target in relation to candle low, etc.

I'm happy if one exit can be set in J22, and the 2nd in some other similar cell.

The actual exit is triggered through the L3 and N3 cells.

So you could use a IF function in J22, J23, J24, J25 to return a particular price based a certain condition:

With the custom columns I&J...
Must the cells that are there by default stay where they are, or can other cell pairs be inserted there?
I'm finding that my one-off calculating cells, placed in other columns, regenerate as each candle is created,
and would like to put them in column I&J

The cells that Sierra Chart sets in the I and J columns have to remain. But you can use any additional cells which are unused by Sierra Chart. We just recommend you keep them at least 20 rows away from any existing cell used by Sierra Chart just to allow for future expansion we may use.

Hi,
1.
I have played with using column H as a "contraint-free "column with success so far,(instead of bottom of I/J) doing isolated calculations for use in entries and exits.
Does that sound like a good plan?

2.
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/StudyChartAlertsAndScanning.php#ReferencingDataOtherLastBar
a.
Can e.g ID2.SG1[-4] be used in a spreadsheet system for trading?
I'm trying to avoid a circular reference when a buy entry formula is including sell entry cell $M$6 and vice versa
(if I paste in =ID2.SG1[-4], SYNTAX error is returned.)
b.
If this isnt allowed, is there a workaround for a such a reference?

3.
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/StudyChartAlertsAndScanning.php#BaseGraphIdentifiers
can these be used in spreadsheet system for trading?

i may need to just ignore that page :)
