I don't understand why its so hard to code a Hi/Low of the day with "Stairstep" for a time period??

The OHLC Hi/Low works fine for the whole day.

I want the RTH Hi/Low of the RTH day. And short of using it on another chart with just RTH hours, THEN overlaying the study creates unnecessary lag.

To be clear, as the Hi/Low is happening in real time, the Hi/Low for Time Period plots in "Stairstep" as it goes.
But I find as I want to do a "Colorbar on alert condition" study, and I'm putting a condition in of the Hi/Low of the day, it wont work because the "Hi/Low for Time Period" is fixed at the Hi/Low of the day (as a horizontal line) once the day is finished, which doesn't help me for analysis or quick reference. I would have to "Replay" in order to see if my Colorbar studies are working and/or analyze.

Why wont the Hi/Low for Time Period study show the "Stairstep" after the day is done, instead of just a horizontal line at the Hi/Low of the day?

Thx

You need to use the Daily OHLC study:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/StudiesReference.php&ID=137#Daily_OHLC

And refer to:
Daily OHLC: Displaying the High and Low Lines Incrementally for Day

And set this Input to Yes:
Use Day Session Only

Although this might not be what you are looking for.

Thank you. Sorry, to be clear. The Daily OHLC study, and the Hi/Low for Time Period study do not stairstep (even if Daily OHLC study is set to day session) in a SUBGRAPH (Chart Region other than #1 Main)
thx
