Steps followed;

1)Downloaded v 1504 to a new folder as a new installation
2)Followed steps in Help Topic 15 to copy files over from the existing installation

Launched the new installation and got the following message;

Launching C:\SierraChart\SC-IB Futures New\SpreadsheetFileConverter.exe with parameters: "D:\SierraChart\IB Futures\Data\Energy&Metals Spreadsheet.scwbf" "Energy&Metals Spreadsheet.scss" 197052 -culture=0 | 2017-01-03 05:44:06

Unable to open D:\SierraChart\IB Futures\Data\Energy&Metals Spreadsheet.scwbf because the spreadsheet file conversion failed. | 2017-01-03 05:44:06 *

Data in D: drive should not matter as I successfully converted another little used installed copy (as a test), but in that case by downloading from within the old copy.

In this instance I'm trying to do the conversion as a parallel process per my recent question here.

What am I doing wrong?

Make sure the computer has Microsoft .NET 4 installed.

If you still have a problem, privately attach the spreadsheet file here and we will to convert it for you. Here are instructions:

I do have .NET4 Installed.

1) I actually have 13 files and >300 sheets to convert. I only sent you the one because when I opened the installation with 4 chartbooks and 4 spreadsheet files, it went into a seemingly endless loop of conversion, so I set it such that only one workbook would open upon launching.

2)I tried for the 1 file today to see if copying formulas over would work. This is because I use a lot of formulas and syntax unsupported by the new spreadsheets, so I was looking at this as an alternative. After attaching spreadsheet studies to 21 charts, I renamed the sheets to match the charts. Upon closing and relaunching the installation, every sheet was duplicated by a numbered sheet with the same data. The same thing happened with the installation I managed to convert in situ, mentioned in my first post above. I do not know if this is standard, but the renamed sheets do not seem to update after they are duplicated. Also, one of the sheets had the studies scrambled, ie the first study was not in column AA.

I'm trying to solve this best I can without being a burden, but this is really not getting anywhere.

Kindly advise. I can send you the files for conversion, but it's a lot more than 1.

I ran another trial.

Completely fresh install, different data directory. Clean, standalone.

1) Deleted the spreadsheet studies from all charts. This was old spreadsheets, conversion failed anyway, so dead reference.
2) Installed new spreadsheet studies on the first 3 charts. Allowed SC to determine data output sheet number and formula source sheet number. SC numbered the sheets 1,3,and 4.
3) Renamed sheets to match chart names. Shut down.
4) On relaunch, there were 3 additional sheets numbered 1,3,and 4. These updated with realtime data. My named sheets did not update.

Please advise.

You cannot rename the Sheets. This is not supported. Otherwise, you will see the behavior that you do. We do expect to support sheet renaming when using the Spreadsheet Study later on.

Also, one of the sheets had the studies scrambled, ie the first study was not in column AA
This is not clear for us. The term scrambled does not make sense to us in this context. Refer to these study Inputs:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SpreadsheetStudyInputs.html#NumberOfFormulaColumns
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SpreadsheetStudyInputs.html#BlankColumnsBeforeFirstStudy

You could attach all the files you want converted as a zip file and privately attach them and we can do the conversion. But we cannot guarantee, that the formulas are all going to transfer exactly properly if some of the aspects of them are unsupported.

I am attaching the files as a private zip file. Yes, I know that a number of my formulas are not supported in new spreadsheets, I have already designed workarounds for stuff like maxif. The rest are what I expect will be syntax errors that will need adjustment.

Re renaming of spreadsheets not being supported, right clicking gave the option so I took it the feature was available. Look forward to it being available in future, as it will ease navigation.

Thanks in advance for your help with this problem I'm having.

As we were working on this conversion process, we realize the problem is you need to have the Spreadsheet Gear file in the folder that Sierra Chart is installed to. This is the installation of Sierra Chart you are doing the conversion from.

That should have been obvious to us based upon the error message you provided in the first post , but there could have been many other reasons for that error message and it was not something that we thought of at the time.

The file is attached. Put this into your Sierra Chart folder and then open the old SCWBF spreadsheet files from within Sierra Chart and they should convert automatically.

I have done as you directed and am still getting the error message.

When I pasted the SpreadsheetGear file to the folder, I was asked if I want to replace the existing file. I selected yes.

Section of log is below. The file is there, it is not being recognised. What is the dependencies mentioned referring to, another file?

We apologize for the delay. All of the spreadsheets have been converted. And are attached.

Although as we were going through this process, we noticed that some cells with a formula error are displaying a nonstandard character.

This is now fixed. You need to update to 1508:

I haven't followed up on this as I haven't really had time to work on the spreadsheets, but with the Easter Holidays coming, I might be able to get some completed.

Would it be possible to do the conversion before the holidays?

The spreadsheets are in post #10. This was done a while ago.

Make sure you are running the current version of Sierra Chart.
