Stop orders different between sim and live

When I put in a stop in sim, it goes in as a regular stop (when price hits, then it becomes market order), but in live, it goes in as stop limit, even when I specify stop order. What do I need to do to correct this in the live session? Also the difference in price for stop limit is different when placing order from chart and placing order from DOM. Where do I specify the difference to use so that I can make the price difference the same whether using charts or DOM trading?
