Hey there! I could have sworn I found something originally saying I could do this, but I have a working trade strategy that I would like to implement. Is it possible to hook up sierra charts to meta trader 4 or am I completely misremembering something? If it is possible, where can I find documentation?

We are not aware of any simple interface between Sierra Chart and Meta-trader.

Metatrader 4 would have to act as a DTC Server for this to be possible.

The Sierra Chart Spreadsheet System for Trading study does not work with Microsoft Excel.

And in any case, what you are asking about is not going to work reliably.

Mind if i ask why the reliability issues/what the reliability issues could be?

Currently having refreshing issues with the data as i am trying to extract data from the spreadsheet study/Alerts to another EXCEL Workbook. Data only reflects once you click Save / Update Links manually.

The Sierra Chart interaction with Excel could cause Sierra Chart to freeze, or possibly run into exceptions and have stability issues causing possibly Sierra Chart to malfunction.

We just do not recommended and that is why the Spreadsheet System for Trading study does not work directly with Excel. It would inherently be unreliable.

Hi pip_monster,

I actually had the same issue and setup Sierra to MT4/MT5 bridge.
Solution is cloud based, but you need to keep Sierra up and running (with study on chart you want to copy from) and MT4/MT5 up and running (EA running...)
If you interested you can read more on https://aimfx.io/ I setup simple page to describe functionalities. It is still in progress...

Nevertheless, you can sign in for free BETA that should arrive later this year.
I will be looking for people who can help me test the solution and build new functionalities.

Cheers,
Lukasz

I'm curious why you want to do this, as Sierra is clearly the much better charting platform.

Actually this is one of the reasons why I am doing it. I traded myself on MT4, but moved to sierra like 2 year ago. If you trade forex (an I am mostly) I trade using sierra chart (sim account) but trades are executed on my MT4 broker (small spread, commission, margin requirements).

I like to trade sierra, but my broker accounts was with MetaTrader 4 or 5. That is main reason.
Secondary, I had some of algo strategies that were working on MT4, and I am copying those trades to different accounts (with different risk settings). Now I can run them even on MT4 and copy on MT5...

Side note is, I already got a few people looking for this solution so I start building one with admin tool (for 2y I did have copy software with simple config files but require a lot of technical knowledge). One guy trade using Sierra chart for fund, but same time copy trades on his own MT5 account. He dont need to trade on few platforms at same time - he trade on sierra and trades are copied to all his account with different size / risk.

Hope I satisfied your curiosity.

Project is moving forward.

I setup a website where I will be providing more information https://aimfx.io/ you can leave your email there and I will inform people when BETA is out. Few people already signed and I give a promise to us this email once when starting BETA, after I will delete those mails.

Currently I am working on control panel where you would be able to define master account (sierra/mt4/mt5) and slaves (mt4/mt5).
There is no support to copy trades from mt4/mt5 to Sierra. Mainly because I do believe Sierra is the best platform to use :) and therefore it can be used to initiate trades and copy to other accounts.. In future I will add Sierra support, so you can trade from one sierra account to multiple sierra accounts. Other platforms will come later (cTrader/ninja...)

Panel is almost done and in Jan/Feb I will be looking for few people to join BETA testing group.
Idea is, to test the solution and improve.

Lukasz

Hi @User888583 is your bridge perfectly stable between SC and MT5 by now ?
I signed up on your site

Hey, I see you registered.

Copying between Sierra and MT4 is done and works stable (few people already using it).
Copying to MT5 hedging - should be stable, but for MT5 netting type I would wait with saying its 100% stable. More testing required.

I see your email registered in system, will send you instructions how to use the tool.

In general, if anyone want to join beta - feel free. I estimate that we should close all testing in next 2-3 months and around January release to the public.

Cheers,
Lukasz
