Aim: To automatically create text on a chart or study that a user is able to re-position, edit and save with the chartbook.

I am looking to create a type of 'story board' chart, where text comes in automatically in response to various 'events', which a user is then able to re-position and edit. It is important this text is then saved with the chartbook.

Using ACSIL I cannot see how this is achievable by adding text through a subgraph on a study - as far as I'm aware the user could not interact with it.

That seems to leave drawing a chart tool as the only option. I appreciate and understand that although a user can interact with these drawings added through ACSIL, for safety reasons (to prevent chartbooks getting too large), they are not saved with the chartbook (even with AddAsUserDrawnDrawing set to 1).

So my question is this: Would it be possible for a user to copy selected drawings and have these copies saved with the chartbook? The potentially numerous drawings added through ACSIL would be deleted when the chartbook was saved, but the 'user copied' drawings (of which there should be far fewer with the user having total control), would be saved.

I've experimented with copying drawings added by ACSIL, but currently they too are removed when the chartbook is saved / closed.

I'm guessing this would involve somehow re-assigning an ID to the copied drawing, which may require an additional 'copy' feature available to the user - i.e. 'Replicate' or something like that.

I cannot see any other way of achieving my aim, unless there's something I've overlooked.

Is there anyway this kind of functionality could be developed?

Thanks.

We will work on adding support to allow ACSIL drawings to be saved to a Chartbook. We should have this out by next week.

This new variable will be supported in the next release:

s_Usetool::AllowSaveToChartbook

It can be set to 1 to allow a user drawn chart drawing to be saved to the Chartbook.
