Free demo vs. paid stock data

Hello,

I've recently purchased SCH subscription. Prior to that I was testing my trading system on free demo stock datafeed.
By accident I've deleated and reloaded all data using now paid service and to my surprise the old and new did NOT match (see attached screenshots).

How can this be? All chart settings are the same. The new reloaded data corresponds with information given by finance.yahoo and thus the original data from demo datafeed were incorrect.

This is a big issue as it could completely change the outcome of the strategies I've been testing.
How could this happen? And how do I know it won't happent in the future?

Please advise.

We cannot answer your question because we do not know where the prior data came from because we do not know exactly what you did. Sierra Chart supports multiple sources of data and the data could have come from another source.

You also need to understand that the historical data can be adjusted for dividends or not. Refer to:

And how do I know it won't happent in the future?
As long as you do not change the Service in Sierra Chart and do not change the Download Dividend Adjusted Historical Data setting, the data will remain the same.

Also, we cannot understand any difference from those charts. You cannot expect us to tell what difference you are referring to.

Both datafeeds were/are from Sierra Chart directly (DTS set to "SC Data - All Services). Prior to this I had no data of shown Stock (AVB).

Download Dividend Adjusted Data was not and is not checked off either.

The difference is very clear to see in attached graphs. They represent the same time period in the same instrument (AVB). The line shown sits at very different prices although showint the same flip area in the market. Also, in the "NEW" data screenshot, the pullback to the line went much deeper into prior consolidation whereas it flipped almost precisely using the "OLD" data.

Your description of the difference is meaningless to us.

You need to explain that there is a change of actual price values at a particular Date and state the particular date and state the particular values.

Anyway, we cannot answer your question. We do not know the answer to it and we cannot always trust what users tell us. Based upon the information given, we do not know the answer to the question.

Okay, here it is in detail. As you can see the price on the same day doesn't match by 7 points on Close.

Again, the setting are exactly the same (NEW one was created by deleting AVB.dly from Data folder, opening the exact same chartbook and letting it automatically download the data over from my current paid SCH datafeed).

Prior data was from SCH demo datafeed.

The NEW prices are confirmed to be right by both Yahoo Finance and ThinkOrSwim data.

When you say "demo vs. paid stock data". There is no such thing. The data is the same.

Although you say this:
Prior data was from SCH demo datafeed.

The old chart is dividend adjusted data from another data source. We can tell that now clearly. This is what the evidence shows. Unless our data provider was providing different data previously, but we have never known that to be the case. And the the server should never deliver dividend adjusted data unless you specify that option.

Any further discussion of this is pointless.

Okay thank you for your reply. It's important to me that I've discovered it and it should show the right data from now on.
