Hi,

I have read the documentation quite a bit, and I can't find how to have the Value Area one color and outside the Value Area another color? (Please see attachment).

Thanks

The Volume by Price study colors settings are controlled through the Subgraphs tab:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/VolumeByPrice.php#Color

But we are not really understanding the question because clearly the attachment shows just what you want.

Hi,

I understand that color settings are controlled through the Subgraph tab, but I'm really confused on how to set one color for the Value area, and another color for outside the value area. The attachment is not from my chart, but from something I saw online.

Thank you,

Thank you for getting back with me, it helped a lot.

I have the fill color set to gray, but I'm still getting dark red as part of the bar. Can you tell me how to set the color to just gray?

Also, I can't figure out how to set the bar color, for the bars that are outside the Value Area to a different color?

One last thing... after making the changes you'll see on the attachment, I save it to be the default, and I added it to another chart, and it went back to the original settings.

Thanks,

Hi,

I think need to set the "Bid Volume and Ask Volume Coloring Method" to "None".

That will get rid of the dark red part of the bar

Thanks, that worked good, getting rid of the red.

How do I make the bars that are outside the value area a different color?

As has been previously said you need to do this:
For the volume bars to be colored the Value Area color, it is necessary to set the Bid Volume and Ask Volume Coloring Method to None.

This subgraph setting controls this:

There should not be a problem with this. Make sure you follow through the correct procedure here:

This is how I have this set, to None.

I want the area that is outside the Value Area a different color. I don't see a way to accomplish this, unless I'm messing something.

Thanks

Eg Put "blue" in both boxes for "Volume Bars Outline and Fill Colors"
And put "orange" in both boxes for "Value Area and Outline"

Then they will be different

The answer given in post #14 is correct.

It is referring to the Subgraphs tab of the Study Settings window:

Thanks Acro, but this is what I get when set it that way. It does not make the bars outside the Value Area Orange, just the VAL lines.

Are you aware that you have set Highlight Value Area High and Low Only to Yes?

To do what you want you need to set both the primary and secondary colors for this Subgraph to orange:

Thanks, this is what I've been looking for. I wish someone would have told me this yesterday.
