Did something change with regard to symbol handling?

I start SC, go to Global Settings -> Symbol settings and there are literally no symbols. If I update from server or or do a full reset the symbols are of course updated as normal and I can see all of them. I then exit SC and start it back up again only to find no symbols again.

I've nuked GlobalSymbolSettings.xml entirely, started SC to let it repopulate on it's own (which I verified it did), quit and restart and again no symbols loaded after restart even though the file looks completely normal and permissions look right.

This is version 1442 with IB. I'd go back to 1439 or 1440 if I could find them anywhere.

Managed to go back to 1439 and 1440 which made no difference in behavior. No matter what I try now SC refuses to use GlobalSymbolSettings.xml after a restart.

I've managed to fix this for now by using Window's restore point feature specifically on that file. There has to be something going on permissions wise that is causing an issue and I'll attempt to figure out what that is.

Okay there is a serious bug here guys.

I've reproduced the steps to create this:

1. Start 1442, let it load as normal.
2. Exit.
3. Start 1442, go to global settings/symbol settings, you now have no symbols loaded.

Why is this happening? Because something in 1442 overwrites all the symbol service codes with 'true' which looks like an obvious bug to me.

Before 1442:

<service-code>ib</service-code>

After 1442:

<service-code>true</service-code>

For literally every symbol once 1442 has a chance to write the file out on exit.

I've now gone back to 1441 until this can be resolved.

The issue has been found and fixed and we are updating the 1442 files.

We do acknowledge that this was indeed a very serious bug for users with custom Symbol Settings and we will have to prepare instructions for users running 1442.

Generally there is minimal consequence for most users but anyone who has custom symbol settings will have to manually correct the service code in the file.

It relates to a new string class being used and an incorrect overload function being chosen by the compiler.

do we have to worry about anything if we never downloaded/installed 1442 and are still on 1441? can we just go to 1443 from 1441 and have no worries?

Nothing to be concerned with and for most users using 1442 they just simply need to update to 1443 and that is all.
