V1434 Waiting to Download Historical-Stays. Seems Won't Backtest AutoTrade

Seems some change between 1430 vs 1434 relating to Waiting to Download Historical data message never going away, is also affecting Backtesting by stopping autotrade.
The SIM runs, but trades don't happen when signals occur (Trues in K).
I know those same TRUE's worked on LIVE data SIM the day before.
This is not in a disabled time period.

It's always been tough to backtest scalping upon prior days, to avoid automatic data update from that period to current unless disconnected from net.

A large complex trading system can not handle more than a few days "days to load" in charts.
This requires backups of each day, to be able to test each day desired.
Trade system improvements must be tested against many back days.

Hence, I would unplug the I-net cable when backtesting prior days.
This worked fine for 7 months:
the "Waiting to Download Historical data" message would disappear in 1 minute, and Autotrade SIM worked.

Since 1434, that message does not go away, and it seems to interfere with Backtest AutoTrade.
That is, no autotrades occur when turned on if those messages are showing.
Also the messages obstruct viewing 38 charts.

Much of SC strength was fast Backtesting of 1 second+ Time Sales data.
I'm not doing anything different, but it sure seems something has changed.

First, we have to make it clear that your long messages are a burden upon us. They simply are not appropriate and are a burden upon us. There is a lot of unnecessary communication and statements.

We cannot continue to respond to these.

Be brief and to the point.

Restart Sierra Chart, and open just one chart and if you notice this problem, provide a copy of the Message Log following these instructions here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#MessageLog

Just open one single chart and no others.

(used to go away after 1 min when unplugged ).

We understand the reason for the problem now.

We need to think about this and come up with a solution. We should have it out by the end of the day.

I went back to observe versions in backups day by day.
It changed between V 1426 & 1433 (I skipped vesions).

Sorry I didn't do that yesterday.

Hope that corresponds with where you found a change was made.

Thanks so much.

Updated to important-Mandatory V 1437.

"Waiting to Download..." yellow messages-- still persist.
(does not go to Green Historical Data Download Completed as 1429 did).

To confirm it's a Version issue, I ...

1) copied my V 1429 Complete Backup (of June 24) to a test Folder.
2) copied 1437 SierraChart.exe to such Folder
3) Ran it. Saw above problem, against same data/programs that it had not.
ie: The version clearly behaves differently.

(I had no major changes from 6-24 to 6-29; a few statement lines changed in same spreadsheets).

In 1429, Alert Manager would pop up when Green Download completed came up (as reached chart calculation mode).
1429 would flicker 2 or 3 times over 45 seconds before DnLoad Completed came up.
Does not do that anymore.

I'm in no giant hurry.

We apologize. We forgot to mention is that to stop the historical data downloads that have been queued, you need to select File >> Disconnect

Also, as a matter of policy we will no longer be providing support for your account unless you have a directly paid for account:

--> EDITED:
I tried rapid disconnect today, 2 hours after this post.
Quick as I was to disconnect in 1-2 seconds, (it tried to connect twice),
it quickly messed up my backup day 06-25, adding up to part of 6-30 data.
= = = = = =

Trading systems must be tested on at least 15 very-different days.
The normal 3 days loaded won't do. Hence separate day files.
- - -
You're saying:
- LET SC attempt to download ONLY WITH cable connected,
- hit Disconnect after connect turns Green,
- so messages turn Red-"Download Cancelled" ?

This does't allow us to just unplug the I-net cable before start SC anymore?
(no connection=never goes green to cancel; Waiting to Dnload mssgs never go away)

My tests prove that's different than pre- 1430.
It was changed?

Now, we must be quick to avoid adding data to old separate day files?
We wanted files ended where they were.
Seems riskier to files than my way- may change stop point.

Pls clarify, for old days backtesting
whether:
a) anything in re download data was changed around 1430,
b) above is the new procedure (unplugging no longer allowed- yellow mssgs will hang),
c) no next day data will get added onto an old day file if we're quick to disconnect.

- - -
Though 1) you want(?) feedback on affects of releases, and
2) info like above might help many SC users,

I should
a) subscribe for nonbroker Instance,
or
b) send $ for support time.

An issue like this due to your changes should not be borne soley by me.
Do you allow about 15 minutes before this applies?

When I do very well, I had hoped to send SC a Bonus, in appreciation.

I'm adding to Services Balance.
(In Texas we say: "Money talks, Hot air walks")

Should I use this broker account?

I have a direct account (pre-broker), but I can't handle another instance right now.

Broker/CQG works so I'm leaving it alone for now.

Hold Off.

As I tried quick disconnects when unplugged, against recent day data,
I got V-1437 to NOT hang with yellow-Waiting to Download mssgs.

That's not consistent with what I saw earlier between 1426 & 1433/1437.

CONCLUSION:
Appears to be timing of hitting disconnect, plus unplugging from net still works better (as before) for older days.
(The other problem was when I was plugged in,-- could not disconnect fast enough when connection went green.)

Method: Hit disconnect quickly when attempts connection, twice (once on load, & after open charbook).

Give us a chance to go over this and respond to it. Make sure you do your testing on the latest prerelease which is 1439.

Also selecting File >> Disconnect will stop any historical data downloads.

I tested on 1437 and 1439 today.

I have the disconnect timing figured out, plugged to net, & unplugged.

Everything seemed:

a) to work well like before 1433 when unplugged, and
b) work well also when disconnecting while plugged-into-net with live feed.

I regret that this may have been Operator Error, now that I can't see the problem when I repeatedly do things correctly, or you had tweaked V1437.

I think it's OK!
I always avoid bothering you unnecessariy.
Thanks so much.

Make sure you are using 1439. The proper way to not load data in the chart that you do not want to do back testing with is to set Chart >> Chart Settings >> Use Date Range >> To to the ending date that you want.

Refer to:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ChartSettings.html#LastDatetoDisplay

We see no reason to be disconnecting any Internet connection cable. That is not good practice.

If you do not want to have Sierra Chart connect to the data feed on startup, then uncheck Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Connect on Program Startup.
