I don't know why but last couple of days been questioning whether my intra day charts look correct.

I use 1440m charts for my daily's, then gone down to 60m, 15m etc etc from same chart.

I currently have time zone set to Brisbane Australia, with session time to start at 0800am aest (5pm cst) and 0759am aest (459pm cst) finish.

I have this setting for all futures contracts.

can you pls confirm this is ok.

thanks

We definitely do not recommend this:

I currently have time zone set to Brisbane Australia, with session time to start at 0800am aest (5pm cst) and 0759am aest (459pm cst) finish.

You should be using the time zone of the exchange itself. Refer to:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TimeZone.html#DifferentTimeZoneForCharts

Also, refer to the exchange website for the contract specifications like the session times.

We did not look at any of the chart images. We will not struggle with this. You need to tell us specifically what your question is regarding those images. We need specifics. Like a particular Date and Time. And what the difference is. Telling us they are different is not acceptable to us. And we will only accept 2 chart images.

Just to clarify to start, when you are referring to to time zone of the exchange itself, are you talking about the file>data/trade service settings>time zone or chart>chart settings>advanced settings>time zone?

i have file>data/trade service settings>time zone set to Brisbane, as i would like to see the time on my charts in my own time zone, then i have chart>chart settings>advanced settings>time zone set to "use global time zone".

Then using CL 2016 sept futures contract as an example, I have chart>chart settings>main settings>session times>start : 08.00am (which is 5pm CST) and end time 07.00am (which is 4pm CST)

thanks

You can do it either way:

Just to clarify to start, when you are referring to to time zone of the exchange itself, are you talking about the file>data/trade service settings>time zone or chart>chart settings>advanced settings>time zone?

Whatever works best for you.

When using your own time zone, around the transition to and from daylight savings time you do have to adjust those Session Times and there is going to be a Session Times mismatch around the transition to and from daylight savings time. So you have to accept responsibility for this and we will not provide any help with it.

ok - so to avoid the day light savings issue and to not have to adjust session times, if i have the following -

file>data/trade service>time zone>Chicago

chart>chart setting>main settings> start time 1700 end time 1600 (use intra 1440m for daily)

chart>chart setting>advance setting> time zone>use global time zone

this should print candles on all time frames without the need for any adjustments, correct?

also, is there a way to change these settings globally instead of going through each chart i have and manually changing start and finish times.

thanks

As long as it is OK to use for all of your charts the Chicago time zone, then it is OK to use the global time zone setting.

Yes these settings can be set globally through the Global Symbol Settings:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_GlobalSymbolSettings.php

However, you still have to go from chart to chart to actually apply them:
