DOP Analytics has developed a new tool for Sierra Chart called "TheBox". It attempts to analyze market data for you, projects a probable direction and reveals levels to take profit at. It was originally developed several years ago on a different platform and has been under development for Sierra Chart for the last year. It is now ready to beta test. All you need is an active Sierra Chart account. We are looking for some traders to give it a run over the next couple of weeks and provide us with feedback. You can get instant access by filling out the form on this page http://theboxsc.dopanalytics.com/. There is a short video on that page that gives a more detailed description. You will also have access to short videos explaining how it works / how to use it. And a user manual is also provided.

Beta tester report June 2, 2016

I'm green today. ES is range bound this morning. The chart is set to 2000 trades per bar. A Box formed in the overnight at 2:35 AM. The box is still holding at 10:30 AM. There was an RTM touch at 6:41 Pacific shortly after the RTH open and the Box mean was acting as strong resistance since 5:42. The RTM touch ended up to be a long trap. I saw the trap setup and entered short after the next bar close because it closed on its low. Plenty of room to scalp out completely at the other end of the range if necessary (about a 2.5 point range), but the price action blew through the first Box profit target like it wasn't even there which meant there was lots of selling strength. I held 2 runners and nailed 24 ticks total on 3 contracts. The trade went further than I thought it would. Done for the day.

You made my day.

Finally! TheBox for Sierra Chart. You have got to be kidding me! I have been patiently waiting (clawing my eyes out is more like it) for the Sierra Chart version. I’m a retail trader. I am profitable using TheBox on a different trading platform (which I’m dying to dump like a rotten meal in the fridge). I’ve used TheBox for over a year. I’m not the greatest trader ever lived. But what’s awesome with TheBox is that the R:R ratio is so staggeringly in your favor. Unfair advantage? No way. Those built in profit targets are my best friend. Get in the trade and manage it like it’s the only one you will take for the day.

I’m a beta tester. I’ll post results.

Beta tester update June 3, ES, 2000 trades per bar

Green for the day. I tried to attach a screen shot to help explain what I'm describing. Hope that works..never done that before.

There was a trend channel from the overnight that started with a Box at 1:50 AM. The next box signaled a possible continuation trade but it was right at the RTH open so I waited to see what was going to happen. The best entry was the confluence of the Box high and the trend channel line from the overnight. I passed on that entry. Below the box were some speedbumps. I wanted to see the swing low at 5:47-ish broken before I entered. The 6:46 bear bar did the trick and broke the first box profit target line as well. I entered short on a limit order at 2090.75 which is the closest value to the blue profit target line. I got filled at 6:48. The Stop was above the previous congestion bars. My profit target, based on the size of the previous moves (the black dashed vertical lines) was between 2084 and the 3rd Box profit target line. The trade worked out well, I exited at 85.75.

Like I said I'm happy with the Box. There's no hurry to get into a trade because another opportunity will show up. And you can always adjust the Box Strength to have more Boxes painted in a trading day, and/or adjust your chart bar parameters for the same effect. Tweak things until they fit your style. I'm a price action guy and I like simple charts. TheBox fits into my comfort zone. The last couple of days have been easy for me. They are not all like that.

It sure does miss a lot of breakouts for being a "breakout box". But nevertheless. Today was amazing. In keeping consistent with a common chart many traders use The Box with on the ES (612 Trades Per Bar), it produced 5 trade opportunities. Never being more than 7 ticks negative in a single trade (a couple of them 2 and 3 ticks at risk) and producing 87 ticks of profit - a trader can expect to realistically pull 30-70% of available profit in any Box trade depending upon what levels they choose to take profit at.

Here are today's trades on the ES using a 612 "Trades Per Bar" chart.

Love the trades to the MidPoint....It works pretty good. I've got it set to a strength of 4 on Crude oil.....Not many Boxes using that. I'm also using Renko charts.

Thanks for sharing apollofl. One of our traders that uses the Box is a floor trader over at the CME/CBOT and uses solely the midpoint and swears by it. Renko charts have been pretty popular with TheBox. What is your brick setting on your Renko?

Thanks. It's always good to find out what others are doing since TheBox is so versatile.

There are several fund managers who use TheBox. One of them built an auto trader for TheBox to trade a handful of the daily trades he makes with his fund. I watched it live the other day and it's pretty impressive. I asked him if he would make it available to other traders. He said yes but only to a few and they must be 1) very familiar with Sierra Chart and 2) Not be someone looking for an "ATM Machine".

It makes money but he doesn't have time to sit and teach traders how to use Sierra Chart and doesn't have time for traders that are looking for "the next deal".
