See the attached screen grabs of the respective Study configurations.

The Color Background works and colors at the right places.

The Color Bars does not work - no bars change color. The red alert background coloring of the Study name in the Region data line does come on, but the bars don't change color.

Note:

- these Color Studies are being applied/tested against other Studies (not the Main Price graph) in the same Region.
- for reasons unrelated to this testing, the Main Price graph is in Region 2 and these Studies (Color Studies and the ones they reference) are all in Region 1.
- I have followed this section of the documentation for Color Bars but I can't get it to work (yet Color Background will): http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s252_ColoringSubgraphsOfOtherStudies

Is there something about Color Bar Study that is stopping it working when it is referencing Studies in Region 1, whereas usually most traders would be using it on Region 2 or higher. Or is Color Bars not working when it is being asked to Color Bars other than the Main Price bars?

This is an advanced usage question and you are not a direct paid user. We will only take this as a paid support request.

lol.

Why is this an 'advanced usage question'?

Where do you define what is an advanced usage question?

All I am doing is following your own documentation and it does not work.

It seems like a fault/bug to me.

This seems to be clearly evidenced by it's sister study - Color Background working just fine.

To make it clear, ignore my alert formula, and just change the alert to =1 (ie a TRUE alert), with this alert all bars should be colored - but none color. Yet the sister study (Color Background) will fully color the background with an alert formula of =1.

The definition is just based upon the analysis at the time we look at a question.

This could be a simple case of the Study Display Order needing to be adjusted:

We do not know who we are dealing with on the support board. We do see a lot of postings from the account and we do not receive normal payments from these types of accounts and this is a more advanced request.

But if you still have an issue, let us know and we will look into it when we can.

SOLVED

You may want to add this to the documentation section referred to in OP.

If you want to color the bar of a Study Subgraph (ie not the Main Price Graph bars), then you need to change the Draw Style in the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition Study from the default 'Color Bar' to just 'Bar' or one of the other draw styles like Triangle Up/Down.

What is the Graph Draw Type of the study set to? Is it Custom?

This is not clear for us.

Attached is the chart picture for the bars I have successfully colored. Note the main price graph is hidden and is in Region 2. These bars I have coloured are a derivative of volume/# of trade bars.

Attached also are the two screens of settings for the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition Study.

In picture 2 I have circled the Draw Style that needed to be changed form the default of 'Color Bar' to just 'Bar'.

Yes that does make sense and this is already documented at the last step here:
