This command seems to be permanently greyed out (v1406):

Edit / Download Daily Data for All Symbols

How to get it working? This is the fastest way to update all daily bar data files (DLY files).

This functionality was removed in v702 for some reason and I have been waiting for it to come back ever since. I know about:

Edit / Download Daily Data for Associated Watch List Symbols

but it is a workaround that requires two extra steps:

1) you need to manually enter each new DLY symbol into the watch list

2) you need to first open a chartbook with this watch list to be able to run data files update.

I can see the command is not greyed out any more in v1419 but it doesn't work, no DLY data gets downloaded.

Yes, after we made changes to this we later realized that it does not do what you want.

This actually was developed for internal use and does not download data for all files. It only downloads Historical Daily data for symbols being tracked in real time by Sierra Chart.

You really need to use the Associated Watch List for a chart:

To be clear, we are not willing to to add what you are looking for.

No problem. I can live with associated watch lists.

This question keeps coming back from time to time from new users migrating from other platforms who trade stocks. They like to have hundreds of symbols updated with a single click. In case there is later more demand for this functionality, server load could be managed by daily data caps.

This is already supported through the Associated Watch List and the related command for it on the Edit menu.

We see no reason for any further functionality. The downloading is done as needed and also on command.
