Hello,

I am having trouble getting a horizontal line to appear where I start my Price Expansions. The zero percent line comes up, but where I initially click has no horizontal line...

As well how do you change the risk/reward, number of ticks for target, etc.. settings on price expansions? I do not enter at the zero percent line, nor is my stop where sierra assumes it is. Therefore it throws off all of my back-testing.

Thanks sincerely,
Garrett

Hello again,

I would like to add another thing. You guys are great in that you allow hotkeys for sierra's tools. How do I set a hotkey for the Price Expansion?

Thanks,
Garrett

Did you set a 100 percent level in the Price Expansion configuration:

Use the Reward/Risk tool:

Refer to Customize Keyboard Shortcuts here:

Thank you very much. You guys are really truly great. It was the negative 100 percent line that worked for me (just so you know for future reference; I know it is quite simple).

I have another important question. I can not for the life of me figure out. I am trying to use range bars similar to range bars I have used before (not on sierra charts). They might be called no gap range bars(?). I want the price of the close of the previous range bar to be the same as the open of the next range bar. For example: That would allow me to have two different color range bars that are exactly the same (with no wick) next to each other. I know Ninjatrader and ThinkorSwim have this capability, but I am not sure how to pull it up on sierra.

Thanks again,
Garrett

Sierra Chart has several different types of Range bars. Each of them is documented here along with complete details:

I am quite familiar with all of sierra's range bar types. I am asking how (if possible) I can use no gap range bars on sierra charts. My system is traded with no gap range bars, therefore I would like to use them.

P.S. I even attached a picture in case you did not know what no gap range bars were.

In Sierra Chart, that range bar type is called Range Per Bar-New Bar on Range Met.

Range Per Bar-New Bar on Range Met, is not No Gap Range Bars. The close of the range bar is not the same exact price of the open of the next range bar (unless for some reason it is different on my charts then others). I attached a picture on my previous message. I am asking please, can someone show me how to get these range bars on sierra charts.?

Mmmm. I see that. It's supposed to be, I thought.

SC Support will need to respond to this.

Range Per Bar-New Bar on Range Met is as close as possible that we have to "no gap range bars".

In the documentation we linked to, it says:
For additional information to ensure you always get a range per bar that matches your setting, refer to help topic 47(Http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails47.html). You need to set Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Intraday Data Storage Time Unit to 1 Tick.

Also, we do not like manipulating data and forcing values to be a certain way. "no gap range bars" are manipulated bars and have inaccurate data.
