*I have a 1 min chart with "DAILY OHLC" study
*I also have "Hi/Low for Time Period" study, set for the morning time set on same chart.
This will give me the Hi/Lo for the whole chart time frame, and for the opening hours for comparison.
The problem is I want my RTH to stair step and neither studies will work.
The "Hi/Low for Time Period" doesn't stair step even when set. Don't know why its even an option.
The "Daily OHLC" wont work because I cant set for specific times.
Has the stair step feature been fixed on "Hi/Low for Time Period"?
If not, what else can I use to achieve this?
Thanks

Try this:
1) For the RTH, use another instance of the Daily OHLC study instead of the Hi/Lo for Time Period study,
-set the Reference Days Back to 0
-set the Graph High and Low Historically... to Yes
-Hide the study.
2) Add the Color Bar Based On Alert study
-set the Based On to the RTH's Daily OHLC study
-set the Output When Condition True to Use Input Data
-set Input Data to High
-set the Draw Style to Dash
-use a formula like this:
=AND(BARTIME>TIMEVALUE("09:30:00"),BARTIME<TIMEVALUE("16:00:00"))

Repeat #2 for the Low.

tomgilb. That didn't work, still no stair step for RTH

SUPPORT: Why cant I get a Hi/Low (Stair step) for a one minute chart 3am to 12pm for the time (9:30 to 11:00) on the same chart? Why have stair step as an option in the Hi-Lo for Time Period if it doesn't work!? Thx

Stair Step is a graphics Draw Style. It has no effect upon calculations at all. There is nothing wrong to begin with.

You will want to use the Daily OHLC study, and set Use Day Session Only:

Still not working.
After re-reading the instructions I thought it may be that I didn't have evening session checked, therefore "identifying" the day session to stair step the hi/Lo.
That doesn't seem to do anything. The Hi/Low still stair steps from the Hi/Low from beginning of chart time (session start), and doesn't REstart at 9:30a (Day session now defined)

Here's my settings:
Use this interday chart=yes
Session times is 3:00-11:00
Evening session is : 3:00-9:29;59 (this would give my "day session" to be applied hi/lo of 9:30-11)
"Use Day Session Only" is checked.
Graph Hi/Lo Historically=yes
0=days back
display day session only=yes

To clarify: I want my chart to start at 3:00 BUT I want the Hi/Lo stair stepped from the 9:30 open (day session).(The Hi/Lo IS stair stepping, but from 3:00, NOT resetting at 9:30.
What am I missing?

Based upon those settings, the day session will be considered 3:00:00 through 11:00:00.

The Start Time in your case will need to be set to 9:30:00

Also, it is inherently confusing when you have Session Times which overlap and can cause some unpredictable behavior.
