Hi-

When entering option orders say SPY-OPT-20151218-205-P-SMART-100-USD and using attached orders are the attached order profit take and stop loss percentages gauged by the prices on the chart or are they taken from the option chain through interactive brokers? The reason for the question is ive seen the option prices on charts to have some delay when looking at bid/ask prices and would want more accuracy than ive seen.

Thanks,

If you are using a percent for the Offsets for Attached Orders, the current price of the symbol is used to calculate those percentages. But let us confirm that and document it.

The documentation has been updated with this information:
In the case of when using a Percentage (%) for the Attached Order Offset value, the formula is as follows: OffsetPrice = SpecifiedOffsetAsPercent * 0.01 * BasePrice. BasePrice is the main/parent order price in the case of a non-Market order. In the case of when the main/parent order is a Market order, it is determined from the Quote Data for the symbol. You can see the Quote Data through the Window >> Current Quote Window. If there is no Quote Data available and the values are zero, then BasePrice is the last trade price in the chart. The result is rounded to the nearest tick.

So to clarify, when placing a market order using SPY-OPT-20151218-205-P-SMART-100-USD. The Quote data would relay to the attached order my parameters in terms of a sell order, and that sell order would be placed on the Bid side? So I buy that put option at 1.00 on the ask side, my profit take is 10% or in this case 1.10, that number and only that number would have to be reached on the bid side and that is when the order would execute.

I ask this because both orders in and out will be market orders, so I turn buying on the ask and selling into the bid. Percentages need to be determined by those offsets

In the case of a sell market order the Bid price is used for the BasePrice. In the case of a buy market order the Ask price is used for the BasePrice.

This additional information has been added to the documentation.
