See attached picture of the Chart Settings for this symbol and underneath the 1 min chart plot.

I only want this to plot on the chart for the day session ie 9:30am to 4:05pm USA ET.

Why is it continuing to plot time periods outside of this range?

I do not want plots outside the day session as they are erroneous - as you know these market statistics symbols are based on the Cash Indexes which are only open for the day session, so any data outside this time period is erroneous and often mucks up the vertical scaling.

In fact when I set the Chart Settings to the day session only and then save it, I get the chart plot shown. If I then go back into Chart Settings the day session times have been over-ridden and now show 18:00 to 17:15 (which is why the erroneous data is showing). But why is the time session being automatically changed? I have checked the Global Symbol settings and they are correct.

Market statistics are calculated from stock data. And there is stock trading outside of the normal day session. The data definitely is not erroneous.

The problem is the chart is being referenced by 2 other charts and the Session Times are being changed to match those charts. What studies are you using to reference this chart?

Overlay (Single Line) study is being used to reference this ADR chart by 2 other charts.

Yes those two charts have extended hours session times ie 18:00 to 17:15.

Is there a way I can achieve what I want ie for the ADR chart to only plot the Cash hours and this is then over-layed on a full session chart(s)?

Yes you can but you need to use the Study/Price Overlay study:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_StudyPriceOverlayStudy.php

Once you start using this study you can set the Session Times to what you require in the market statistics chart.

Okay I have switched to the Study/Price Overlay study and that now allows me to have different session times on the Source and Destination charts.

However the reason I did not use this Study in the first place is I have never been able to figure out how to display the Overlay on the Destination chart as, say, a line when the plot of the Source chart is the main price graph ie it is Candlestick bars.

When I read your documentation you referred to for the Study/Price overlay it seems to suggest you can overlay the main price graph from the Source Chart on to the Destination chart as a different Draw Style.

See attached for my settings for the Study:

I have tried changing the Graph Draw Type from 'Candlesticks' to 'Line on H-L Average'.
I have also tried changing the Draw Style to H-L Average with it set to Visible and not Ignore.

In both cases, when you save the changes it will not accept them and just reverts to Candlestick settings.

What you require to do will be supported in the next release of Sierra Chart. No further information is needed.

One thing we realize now is you just need to change the Graph Draw Type in Chart >> Chart Settings for the source chart to do what you require.

True. But a trader may wish to have the source chart as bars. Given the Overlay is of the main price graph from the source chart, it could be the trader wants to trade the symbol on that Source chart as well and therefore wants the Source chart to stay as bars. But he then might want to Overlay it to another chart as a line to compare to another symbol's bars on the Destination chart.
