Point figure chart box size is not tick size?

I want the point figure box size to the number of ticks. In the technical reference, it said box size is the number of ticks. But the reality is that it is the absolute value. For example if I set the box size to 1, that works for ES future contract, but won't work for forex future contract. How can I set the box size to the number of ticks? Thanks

As is documented here in the Inputs section, the Box Size is an actual value:

The original reference guide said:
Box Size: This is the Point and Figure Box Size and is most important input to set. It should be a multiple of the symbol's Tick Size. If the Tick Size is 0.25, you may want to use 1.

---
But someone of you guys modified the doc after I posted this topic. Part of it still says it's the tick size.

I attached the image of before and after your doc change.

So I consider this as a bug. In any case, it doesn't make sense to restrict to the absolute value. The current setting force me to modify point and figure chart for every contract. I cannot use universal study group.

Yes, we did add some additional documentation to clarify, but what the original documentation was intending to say is that it is an actual value and in the example given to use 1.0 which is 4 times the tick size.

We expressed in our response, that it is an actual value and made reference to the updated documentation which makes that clear.

We think at one point we considered making it a number of ticks but there may have been some unexpected complications relating to that. Thinking back, it is very possible we even implemented that at one point and backed away from it.

Probably it should be the tick size. So we will review this again.

Actually we see how the documentation is still not clear. We are going to clarify it further.

I noticed that the point & figure has been updated. It seems now it uses tick size. My old point&figure charts are still okay, but once I update to a new symbol, however, the P&F chart is all whacked up. The X and O are not lined up properly.

Remove the Point and Figure chart study from the chart posted in #6. Do the underlying prices look correct?

We opened a chart, added the Point and Figure chart study, set it up as you have and changed the symbol of the chart to the 6E and it displayed properly:

We see no reason for a problem. This probably will not make any difference but update to the latest prerelease of Sierra Chart.

Not sure why that would make a difference. We looked at the code very carefully and we cannot see any reason for this.

I think the point &figure chart is still not working right. Here I attached two images. One is before the change for tick size, the other one is produced from the latest point & figure. Both set to exact same box size, but the older P&F shows few X and O. The new version shows a lot more X and O. One of them must not be right. I think the new version is not correct.

This is now solved. There was another small change needed in another area of the code.

The change will be out in the next release.

I don't think the point & figure chart is fixed. It's still tightly packed rods/columns, not clear X and O

Yes we know there is still a problem and we will have new release out. We are going to be releasing 1349 in about 30 minutes.
