Cannot execute stock trades with IB

When I try to buy apple shares, I get this error: Interactive Brokers | Symbol Error: Unknown symbol with ID 1570 is unknown, unavailable, or improperly formatted. | 2015-10-20 18:37:30 The symbol on the chart is: AAPL-STK-SMART/NASDAQ And I'm doing the trade with chart trade. The same happens if I try to buy an etf: Interactive Brokers | Symbol Error: Unknown symbol with ID 1571 is unknown, unavailable, or improperly formatted. | 2015-10-20 18:49:02 the symbol on the chart is in this case: IWM-STK-SMART/NYSE which is the ISHARES RUSSEL 2000 ETF. If I perform a symbol update from the server, I then get the same errors, but with different symbol IDs: Interactive Brokers | Symbol Error: Unknown symbol with ID 1572 is unknown, unavailable, or improperly formatted. | 2015-10-20 18:51:49 Interactive Brokers | Symbol Error: Unknown symbol with ID 1573 is unknown, unavailable, or improperly formatted. | 2015-10-20 18:51:55 Please help.
