Hi, I have just opened an account with AMP (Rithmic) to access a data feed using sierra chart at the lowest cost possible. I have read the information regarding accessing a live data feed with Rithmic but still am unable to connect to the feed. can you help?

We see you have activated the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed on your account. You also activated the "Dow Jones Indices" exchange.

This would be for real-time data for symbols like $DOWI. Is this what you wanted or did you want real-time futures data?

To access the data feed for that symbol, set the Service in Sierra Chart to "SC Exchange Data". Refer to the instructions beginning at step 12 here:

I wanted to access several markets and after reading that people with a futures trading account with one of Sierra Charts supported trading accounts can access a full CME Group data feed for $3.25/month I opened a live account with AMP (Rithmic). My account went live today but I am unsure as to what I need to do to access that data feed. I have been using the $DOWI until my account went live and now I wish to switch.

OK, understood.

The very first step is to be able to successfully connect to your Rithmic account. Follow through the step-by-step instructions here:
Rithmic Trading Platform Service: Setup Instructions

Let us know when you have the successful connection to your Rithmic account from Sierra Chart.

Ok, I am back to using my AMP demo account login details to get the data feed as my live account details wouldn't work. If I activate my live account with AMP I think I will incur fees if I want Sierra Chart package 5 + fees for a data feed. All I am looking for is a high quality data feed for as few $ as possible. To access the feed from AMP do I need to activate the full CME Group (non pro) feed, or can I access the data feed from my AMP account anyway? I have now deactivated the $DOWI feed and activated the full CME Group data feed (non pro).

Apologies for the confusion!

Do you know if you were getting a "permission denied" error from Rithmic? If you have a live account, you should be able to connect to Rithmic.

What you need to do is tell the broker AMP or broker your work with, that you do not need Sierra Chart from them because you already have your own Sierra Chart account. So tell them that you do not need that and do not want to be charged for Sierra Chart.

You can always use the data feed provided by the trading platform service you are working with. Rithmic does provide a good data feed.

To use the CME Group exchange, it is necessary you connect to a futures trading account. So we need to help you with that. Although because we do not control those connections, it is not something we can just make happen ourselves but if we see the Message Log we can get a better understanding of why this is happening.

So when you try to connect to Rithmic, and you cannot connect provide a copy of the Message Log by following these instructions here:

Hi, With reference to the above messages, my demo account with Rithmic has now expired and I am still unable access the full CME group data feed even though I have just activated it and put my AMP Futures account login details into the Data/Trade Service Settings window as instructed. I would like to be able to use this service via Sierra Charts as it is considerably cheaper than using the data feed from Rithmic. I have copied the error message I get when I try to connect below. To be able to use this particular exchange:

Enabled for: CME, CBOT, NYMEX, COMEX exchanges for trading accounts. | 2015-10-28 14:21:07

The CME requires that you have a funded futures trading account. Do you have that?

You should only need a $1000 deposit with a broker/trading service. If AMP sets you up on TTNet, we would not expect there to be a monthly fee. That is all you need to get the connection to the trading server to satisfy the exchange requirement.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.I do have a funded futures account with AMP. They told me that if I deposit a minimum of $100 dollars into a futures account with them I would have a live non expiring demo account that would give me live, continual streaming to both a live and demo account. So I did that thinking it would enable me to access the full CME group data feed for $3.25/month. I don't really understand whats going on here as I do have a funded futures account but can't access the CME data feed.

I live in the UK so what I'm looking for is a good quality live data feed for my Sierra Chart software, but rather than use the futures broker to place trades I will mostly spreadbet using a UK broker. I will trade using the futures account occasionally but I will mostly just use the charting software for analysisng the markets. So I want the best data feed I can get for as little monthly outlay as possible and $3.25/month would be ideal.

Sorry for the long message!

Hello, I have just been chatting with AMP about my account and it appears that I will need to pay $15/month for a CME Market Data Bundle before they give me my login details. Is this the same market data that you say I can get from Sierra Charts for $3.25/month? Sorry if I'm being a bit thick about this, but I need to know are they the same CME data? If they are that would mean that I have to pay $15/month to trigger my live account with Rithmic (AMP Futures)so that I can access the same data for $3.25/month from Sierra Charts!

What I need to know is how do I access the Full CME Group Data Feed via Sierra Charts for $3.25/month. I have opened an account with AMP Futures and funded that account.

Your help is appreciated!

This Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed is 35 USD a month plus exchange fees.

The 3.25 USD per month is the cost of the exchange fee for the CME Group without market depth. The 15 USD a month from the broker includes market depth data. So yes, the data is the same other than the market depth.

You can just use the data feed provided by Rithmic if you have to pay the exchange fee through your broker.

If you do want to continue to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed and receive the futures data, you do need to connect Sierra Chart to your futures trading account.

Here are the instructions to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed:

The reason I set up a futures account with Rithmic was to be able to use Sierra Charts Full CME Group exchange for $3.25, but unless I subscribe to the CME Market Data Bundle they won't give me the details I need to login to the Sierra Chart software which doesn't make sense to me. Is there any way I can get around this?

Yes, we think there is a solution to this. Contact www.infinityfutures.com.

As long as you do not use the data feed they provide, you should not be billed the exchange fees.

Back when I was using the SC Real-Time Data Feed with Amp/TTNet, I was grandfathered with the CME $15 bundle fee with both Amp and with SC. I was buying the SC R-T Data and package 5 directly from SC. I was never able to speak with anyone at Amp that could understand how I didn't need Amp to set me up an account with SC. I suspect it has something to do with the way Amp has automated their SC account set up procedures. In other words, in order for me to get FIX login credentials with Amp, Amp had to set me up with a package 3 SC account. I did not use that Amp SC account, but I did use the login credentials from that account to connect with the Amp FIX server. SC Engineering had assured me that those login credentials would work with my SC direct account and SC Engineering was correct.

When the CME grandfathering ran out, I ended up paying the $15 CME bundle fee to both Amp and to SC. So I dropped the SC direct account (the account I'm posting from now) and the SC R-T Data Feed and stayed with the free Amp supplied SC package 3 account.

If you (SC Engineering) talk with anyone at Amp that can understand that a customer can have a direct account with SC and if Amp agrees that they can set up FIX login credentials without setting up an SC account, please let us know.

I think Patrick has a fine service and I enjoy his webinars, but I need the lower margins that Amp provides. At present, until I improve my trading, I am only trading the CME micro FX Euro contract.

At last, somebody that understands what I'm talking about! Nice to meet you Eagle. You are absolutely right, every time I've tried to communicate my query to the good folk at AMP I just get, after a long and convoluted chat session, "sure, go to the customer portal, select platform set up, select your live trading platform preferences and the data feed you require and just follow the wizard." When I queried the $15/month CME Market Data Bundle the standard reply was "everybody has to pay that to get their account made live." Now don't get me wrong, this is most definitely not a criticism of any of the people that I have been dealing with about this, in fact everybody has been really helpful and I appreciate that because I've found all this quite confusing. But what I can't understand, is why, now that I have set up a live futures trading account with an SC supported services broker, I am unable to access the Full CME Group exchange from SC for $3.25/month without having to pay the broker that hosts my live account $15/month for pretty much the same market bundle. On their site SC say if you have a live futures trading account you get the full CME Group bundle for $3.25 but clearly that's not the case. It seems to me that these guys are not working together on this (or maybe I'm missing something here!).

However, there has been some progress. I was in touch with AMP again last night and a guy called Johnny has sorted me out. He told me that I can break up the CME Market Data Bundle and pay $5/month for access to any one of the 4 exchanges that comprise that bundle. As I mostly trade the DJI I don't really need all the other stuff, so I've gone for the CBOT element of the CME bundle for $5/month. He also said that if I use Rithmic I could get a feed for the Dax for free (I'm not quite sure what that means, but I do trade the Dax a lot too and if I can get a feed for that for no extra cost it's got to be good!). It's not as cheap as the SC Full CME and I don't get access to the full range of markets, but it'll give me what I need to start with and when I've made my millions I'll be able to go for the full package. I'm just a small trader, I don't have tens of thousands of $ in my accounts, and I've just started using volume by price so I need a good quality data feed to get the best information and I need that data to be as cheap as possible and that is what this has been all about.
Thanks for listening.
Cheers

I've found all this quite confusing.

Yes we know. And we wish it was not so complicated but the exchange rules make it complicated.

I am unable to access the Full CME Group exchange from SC for $3.25/month without having to pay the broker that hosts my live account $15/month for pretty much the same market bundle.
You should not have to, and as long as the broker gives you the option to not subscribe to these exchange fees, then you will want to not subscribe to those but not every broker will give you the choice.

On their site SC say if you have a live futures trading account you get the full CME Group bundle for $3.25 but clearly that's not the case.
This is the case, but Sierra Chart requires a technical method to verify you have a trading account and some brokers are going to require you pay the exchange fees, before you can even connect to the trading account. It is just that there are these various procedures and rules which have to be followed which can be in conflict with each other.
