Hello,

I am trying to add an alert.
I have two studies - Volume and its EMA (overlayed over the Volume study) and I try to add an alert any time the volume is bigger than its EMA, so I added =CROSSOVER(ID6.SG1, ID13.SG1,) to Alerts tab in EMA study (Enabled is checked, Alert sound chosen) but nothing happens.

Could you help please?
Thanks a lot.
Hana

What is the ID number of the Volume study and the ID number of the Moving Average-Exponential study?

Hello,

Volume Study: ID6
EMA Study: ID13

(EMA Study is based on Volume (ID:6) and Input Data is also Volume)

Thanks.

This formula should do what you want:

=CROSSFROMBELOW(ID6.SG1, ID13.SG1)

For the reference for the function used, refer to:

Thanks a lot for your help.
It works but only if set up in a new chart.

I tried to set it up in a chart with other studies that I have already had in my chartbook and it does not work. But I do not mind.

Thanks a lot.

That should not be a problem. But anyway if you got it working now this is fine.

Hello,

Sorry for bothering again.
Here is to remember:
I have two studies - Volume and its EMA (overlayed over the Volume study).
I have an alert set thanks to your help.
I would like to know whether it is possible to "Color Bar Hollow" (meaning the price bar) when Volume crosses its EMA from below.

Thanks a lot.
Best regards,
Hana

Yes this can be done by using the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition study:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s245

In the Alert Condition Formula you will need to use the CROSSFROMBELOW function:

Thanks a lot.
It colors every price bar the volume of which is above its moving average AND it occurs after a price bar the volume of which is below its moving average. It means that it compares two price bars and their volume relative to the volume moving average.
Is there a way how to color the current price bar based on comparison of just the volume and its moving average of the CURRENT price bar (i.e. color the bar every time its volume is above the volume moving average)?
Thanks a lot.
Best regards,
Hana
