I received the following error message:

Alert email error: HTTP/1.0 302 Found

I had previously been receiving alert emails for order fills and server connection status.

Since I started receiving this message, I am no longer receiving alert emails.

Please advise.

This 302 error indicates that the request is being redirected.

Since we do not redirect the Email Alert requests, it must mean that this is happening before the request reaches our server.

Are you accessing the internet through a proxy?

Does the network that you are using have a Captive Portal?

Did this problem start to occur after you updated Sierra Chart?

Hello Sierra support, I am responding because I'm a partner to the thread author. There is no proxy or captive portal. It's a simple home network with a basic home router and cable modem. The email address is a gmail. I don't think there was any update but I'll double check on that.

Can you explain what you mean by "happening before the request reaches our server"? Are you saying that email alerts are routed through a Sierra server and then on to the receiving email address?

Please advise on what we need to do to troubleshoot and resolve this. Thanks.

Further clarification: no software update was done to cause this. Please respond asap because these alerts are key to our trading and without them it's costing us a lot of $$$.

Thank you for your prompt attention.

The email alerts do go through the Sierra Chart server. They have to.

The problem is this error message:
HTTP/1.0 302 Found

It originates from your side and we have no control over it. There is some connectivity problem from your side.

The most reasonable issue is there is some kind of caching going on with the ISP being used. Could you try another ISP?

Thank you for the info. Another ISP is not an option so this simply may not work for us.

Could you update Sierra Chart to the latest release and see if you still notice the problem.

The way that HTTP communication works has been changed and is much more direct and under our control. Possibly this will solve the problem.

This confirms this was an issue on your side. It sounds like something was not configured right with Internet Explorer.

I don't understand what you're saying. All that was done was to reinstall Sierra. Nothing was done with Internet Explorer (which operates with default settings). Post #8 above seems to indicate that you/Sierra made some coding changes.

We did make some significant changes recently with HTTP connections. These no longer go through the HTTP functions in Windows and instead use direct socket connections.

The Windows HTTP functions are controlled by Internet Explorer so this error probably was indicating a problem with the Internet Explorer connection settings. Although those would also affect logging into Sierra Chart as well.
