Hope you are having a good labor day weekend; I have been wrestling with why my rotations calculations off the Zig Zag indicator within a (new spreadsheet) are not working requiring constant "recalculations".

I took some time this weekend to try and find out what is going on and I think I have it pinned down. I copied the data off the SC (new) spreadsheet in real time while this was happening (I saw my rotations appearing off on the chart) and put it into Excel so I could look at it later.

I also copied the data after I did a recalculation and put into an Excel tab next to the 'before' data.

I see that SG1 of the Zig Zag is repeating the same value for several ticks; once I do the recalculation the proper SG1 values appear; I have highlighted the area on the sheets (before and after) and have attached them to this support request.

Could you look at this and tell me is this proper operation of the Zig Zag? And is this a possible bug or have I done something wrong here.

The chart that this is tracking is a ESU5, 2t Renko, OEC data feed and have attached a view of that chart and the Zig Zag settings as well, thx...

Steve

I am having the same problem but with the text output labels for the higher highs and lows. Was going to start my own thread. I use zigzag but use open to open or close to close for input settings. What happens is the high low text labels miss print and i need to constantly recalculate to place them in there proper places above the current swings.

I think you are onto something. You took it a step further with your spreadsheet but i think something is wrong too...

Hopefully we hear something soon.

Regarding post #1, we will look into this and see why it is occurring in resolve it. We do not know how soon we can get to it. We had a quick look now and we do not see any reason why this problem would occur.

Regarding post #2, this is a different issue and you are creating your own problem by not referencing the high and low and the issue is already documented here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s133

We do not need any further information from anyone else and we are closing this thread at this time. These are highly complex issues and it is unwelcome to have further information. Please also do not start another thread. Once again further information is unwelcome.

Also regarding post #1 and #2, the chart images given do not meet our requirements. When posting an image of a chart you must use the method here and no other method:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#Image

And the chart must be simplified. And use standard chart bars and not hide the standard study Subgraphs.

Our work is already difficult enough and we need chart images which are not confusing.

Regarding post #1, this kind of problem was solved in the past and we are not sure why it continues to occur.

Possibly it has something to do with the settings you are using with the zig zag study.

This is the first we have heard of it recently. It will be looked into in the next 30 days.

We want to provide an update on this. We did resolve a problem a couple of weeks ago with the Zig Zag study when it is set to automatically reset at the start of the trading day.

That may or may not have been related to the issue in the first post.

We did test this problem about two months ago and could not duplicate it. We are going to be doing additional testing. As we said, this is a highly complex issue, and we just have not had the time to do the detailed analysis on it yet. This thread is closed because we do not want to be burdened with further information. Further information will not help us.
