I am new to Sierra Chart. I just love the features like Chart trading, Spreadsheets etc.
I am trying to trade Interactive Brokers Friends and Family Account multiple accounts using Allocation Profile.
I Day trade futures. Once the order is filled and I am in trade, Sierra Chart suddenly shows that I am flat.
But when I check TWS,I see that my positions are still open.
I am not sure if I am doing something wrong. Any help or input is appreciated.

Yes, we are aware of this.

And we do not know why this is the case because Sierra Chart does request the current Positions from the TWS API.

Whatever TWS sends for Positions will be shown in Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions >> Positions.

We are not able to provide more help than this.

Thanks for the reply.
I don't know much about Software development or API but I am guessing that
Once the order is filled IB's Allocation Profile is allocating those contracts to appropriate accounts and most probably it is sending back the info saying that Allocation Profile doesn't have any open positions.

This is the chat with IB customer service

Evan S: Please refer to the steps below:
Evan S: 1. Please refer to the link below to download our API software.
Evan S:
https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=5041&ns=T

Evan S: 2. After installed API software, please navigate to C:\TWS API\samples\CSharp\IBSampleApp\bin\Release and open IBSampleApp.exe.
Evan S: 3. From the window open, please click on the "Connect" at the right top side of the window.
Evan S: 4. Please click on the "Account Info" tab and select the account you want to see the position.
Evan S: 5. Please click on the "Request" and see "Positions(All accounts)" to check whether it works fine or not.
vinayk279: I dont keep any positions open overnight and I only day trade
Evan S: Got it. Could you please help to check the issue during the day trade? I mean that if you encounter that Sierra charts can not show the position correct. Then check whether they are available from our official sample app.
vinayk279: I am a scalper and I need to concentrate. I am in the position for few seconds to few min. I am in and out fast
vinayk279: I will try but checking for the problems and resolution should be from your side.
vinayk279: Sierra charts and *** I suppose are the most used charting packages
vinayk279: If this issue is not resolved fast I have to look for alternatives
vinayk279: Please help
Evan S: We are also checking the issue at this time by using our sample code. It will return the position without issue.
vinayk279: Are you checking on Sierra charts?
Evan S: No. Because Sierra charts is not developed by IB, we do not have it. But it's get data via API which should be the same as our official API sample. But we can not control how they display these information to user. That's why we suggest you to use our official API sample for testing.
Evan S: Sierra Chart does request the current Positions from the TWS API. But we do not know how they display the result to user.
Evan S: Via our API sample, it return the raw data and raw display.
Evan S: If you can see the data via our API sample which means that our API works fine and return the correct data, then may be some program issue in Sierra charts cause the issue.
Evan S: Regarding the advisor account when request account position information, API request the account number, we also do not know how Sierra charts send it.
Evan S: Our API sample is the official sample for user to check the API code. And it can be controlled by us. On our side. We have several position on our testing advisor account. When we use the API sample to request position information, It works fine. All the positions return without issue.
Evan S: we will suggest you to contact Sierra charts to check whether they request particular version of TWS or not.
Evan S: Please note that there are at least a hundred 3rd party software that are capable of connecting to the IB Trader workstation (TWS). Most of the time, each 3rd party software has a different design or format in terms of connecting and configuring their system. Unfortunately, we do NOT keep track of each software.
vinayk279: All the 3 rd party software is different from Sierra Charts and *****. I am sure these are the most used charting packages.
