Hello All,
I am going to calculate the moving average of 150 and 250 days. The sierra chart's moving average studies can not do that as I know. Please advise. Thanks

To do this, you need to use a Historical Daily chart opened through File >> Find Symbol and then you set the Length of the Moving Average to 150 or 250.

Thanks for your prompt reply. It does not work properly. When I add 200 as length I get the less number of days than 100 days for example and very off average!see the attached files.

Follow the instructions here to use the Continuous Futures Contract feature:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html

This way you will have a lot more data loaded into the chart.

Hi there,
The problem is not loading the historical days. Please check the charts attached and compare the Moving average lines for 100 and 200 days. The indicator does not produce the correct average by changing the length to different numbers. Please advise

We do not know how to provide more help for this.

The calculations are correct based on how the calculations are done which is a very simple method.

Why do you think they are not correct?

If you want to calculate an average of for example 250 days which also considers non-trading days instead of 250 daily bars, then you need to enable Chart >>Chart settings >> Advanced Settings >>Include Saturday-Sunday Bars for Daily Charts.

And use really should use the Continuous Futures Contract feature. But if you do not want to, that is up to you and we are going to assume you fully understand the data in the chart.

I may need to rephrase my question. I need the moving average of the last 50 days or 100 days. that means only the last 50 days or 100 days should be taken into account. How to do that? By changing the length of the study, it seems it calculates the moving average of all the days loaded in the chart. Am I right?

We would think the answer should be extremely obvious.

Set the Moving Average Length input to 50 or 100. Whatever you require. Only look at the last Moving Average-Simple value on the chart.
