I'm currently testing Sierra Charts and I'm using linux. The datafeed supplied during this test is Rithmic and it doesn't work "out of the box", there is a database issue that I can't resolve. I'm trying to find out what other linux users, use for their datafeed? I have successfully tested IQfeed but can't execute trades.
Thanks

We would recommend instead using CTS T4 or CQG:

These would be considered comparable to Rithmic.

I'm utilizing Rithmic with Sierra Chart and do not have issues with the datafeed. Using Linux Mint 17.2 and Wine 1.7.44.

Thank you for the information. This is good to know. How long have you been using this set up without a problem?

You're welcome. I've had this as my main setup for about 5 months now. There is one fairly significant problem which recently started occurring with the trade window. I will create a new thread later on regarding this problem and will see if I can attach a video of it occurring. It might be related to Wine. Regardless, I still use this as my main setup and do not see myself going back to a Windows machine anytime soon.

If it is WINE related, we would not spend any time on it. Most likely it is, because if there was a problem with the Trade Window we would have heard about it by now from other users and promptly correct it.

Looks like my Rithmic issue has been resolved. I realized that I had an older version of Wine. I had version 1.6 but now 1.7.47

David, the problem is that sporadically clicking on any button in the trade window leads to an encountered improper argument error box to pop up. Each time any button or text input box is clicked it leads to that message popping up for that chart window. You can open a new chart and its trade window will work but the error could begin anytime. It does not affect rest of sierra chart. You can just click ok and just close that trade window. Personally i have configuration files so i do not need to adjust tradd parameters and it seems this keeps the trade window operating fine. The error appears to be triggered by attempting to change any stop/target values. Ie it does not appear the buttons trigger it but the text input regions. But once it pops up doing anything in that trade window will cause same error.

I need to install an earlier 1.7 wine release as I had no issues at all for the first few months.

Something of note is that the trade window attached to the trading DOM may not do this. I don't use the DOM so never thought to try until the other day. I need to test this some more to know for sure.

I'll keep you posted. If there's no response from me here just look out for another thread. I figure it would be helpful for others in the future should they search for a similar error.

I would advise using the earliest Wine 1.7 release available if you happen to try and give it a go. Anything earlier than 1.7 did not work with Rithmic.

We have heard this before. We are not sure why it happens.

So far I haven't had any issues with using the DOM and rithmic datafeed. I have attached a photo of the DOM.
