Hi

Is it possible to have two different spreadsheet alert conditions, one that will change the bar color and one that will change the background color for the same bar?

Thanks

Yes.
Use two Formula Columns, each with their own formula, then set the Draw Style of one to Color Bar and the Draw Style of the other to Background.

Hi Tom

Thanks for your answer.

I am obviously doing something wrong. I can get a color change for either the bar or the background, but not simultaneously.
The background color dominates and when both are set, only the background color is displayed.

Regards

John

Well, I thought it would work, but I didn't test it.

After some testing, there are two workarounds:

1) Use two instances of the spreadsheet study, each one with a unique name in the Spreadsheet Name field.

2) In addition to one spreadsheet study, use two instances of the Color Bar Based On Alert Condition study, set the Draw Style of one to Color Bar and the Draw Style of the other to Background, and use formulas in each one's Alerts tab like this:
=ID1.SG1
=ID1.SG2
where ID1 is the spreadsheet study, and SG1/SG2 are the color bar/background formula columns.
Both color bar studies must be below the spreadsheet study in the Studies to Graph list.

Thanks Tom.

I will test it tonight.

Your help and willingness to share is much appreciated.

Yes you can do this.

Add the Spreadsheet System/Alert study twice to the chart with each one set up as you require. Each one needs to reference different Sheets or different Spreadsheets.

Also look at using the Color Bar/Background Based on Alert Condition studies:
