Stop order transmission

When I open a position that includes a stop order and/or a target limit order, are the open stop and/or limit orders also transmitted to the exchange? In other words, can I just shut my computer down and walk away once I've placed an order and assume that the stop order, for instance, will trigger automatically if the trade happens to move against me? I seem to recall reading or hearing somewhere that might not be the case depending on the platform used and my broker doesn't know about Sierra Charts in particular.

Thank you in advance.

This depends upon the particular Trading service you are using. Which one from this page?:

I run the CQG data provided by my futures broker on your platform, which I then used for both charting and trading. Thank you.

In the case of when using CQG,refer to the documentation here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_AttachedOrders.html#OCOManagementServersideOnly

The Target and Stop orders are sent to the exchange when the parent order fills and there is server-side OCO if enabled.
