Cell format in New Spreadsheet

Hi - Try as I might I don't seem to be able get the cell 'numbers' produced by a formula into any other format that a general number. For example, to change a number into a price e.g. 16.5 -> $16.5 using spreadsheet -> Format - > $0.01 I get some strange date-like format. What am I doing wrong here? Tx. klemmeri |
