Morning, I'm seeing different prices posted between Sierra Charts and my broker Stage-5(Open-ECry). Just checking if you're experiencing any data problems or if it is an Open-ECry issue. Today is FOMC day so volume is larger than normal.

Thanks for any info.

This is a known problem when using OEC and when there is fast market activity. We have no control over it.

Consider using the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed:

I have a slightly different issue.

Quite often an individual symbol will simply stop updating even though I am within my symbol count limit.

It is very frustrating and extremely dangerous if you are trying to chart trade via Sierra and Open ecry.

It also affects one's confidence after it has happened a dozen times.

Thanks for your reply but as I stated, I am within my symbol count.

I had it increased to ten symbols and am very careful to stick to this ten.

The only way I can resolve it is to exit Sierra and restart it.
Nothing else works.
This is not very practical when you are in an active trading session.

Whatever the cause, you will find the reason and a potential solution in help topic 3:

It is not possible for us to provide any other information than that. That is a very thoroughly written help topic. You need to go through each of those items.

You will find the answer in that help topic. This sounds like a data feed problem (which we have no control over), and that help topic will provide you the instructions to make that determination.

The most relevant section we think would be help topic 3.4:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/helpdetails3.html#h3.4

You also need to understand, that it may look like the data feed is being received for a symbol from OEC, but not the tick by tick feed. This is what can be confusing.

I had to conclude that from my location (Australia) OEC is simply not a reliable connection into SierraChart.

It's a shame as I preferred the Sierra DOM over the OEC DOM but I've learned the hard way over the last few sessions that the added risk and latency is simply not worth it.

I love Sierra so I will keep using it for charts via AMP but not for OEC trading

Does a reconnect to the data feed solve the problem?

We know you mentioned a restart but that is not going to be any different than reconnecting through the File menu.

It solves it temporarily but when you get 15 disconnects or price for a symbol stops updating in a six hour period and a market fill is absolutely dreadful (ie nowhere near where you intended when you placed the order) you realise that this is not the most sensible way to connect to OEC

Yes. We do recommend using another data feed other than OEC.
