I have the current price line study attached to a NYSE TICK chart. Is it possible to color the background less than 0 when the value is less than 0, and vice versa? I don't want to color the entire background, just less than 0. I understand that I can color between two subgraphs, but unfortunately they have to be in the same study to do this.

A followup clarification -- even if I can't the above to work, how do I set it up such that the entire background, including all past bars, are colored? Mine doesn't seem to update when the alert is true, I have to "apply" to see the changes.

For example, my alert is:

ID3.SG1 > 0

Where ID3 is the Current Price Line study. Again, I'm wanting the whole background for all past bars as well (or the area below 0) to be colored when the current price is < 0. When the current price line is above 0 and I right-click and "Recalculate," the alert triggers and the whole background is painted. When it goes below 0, and I recalculate, it does not trigger and the background is not painted. But I have to click Recalculate in order to make it work, and I'd like it to refresh automatically.

I found a convenient way to do this, just using another Current Price Line and setting the draw type to Background and coloring based on +/-. Still, if there is another way I would appreciate knowing, as I would like to possibly do gradients of colors depending on the value.

The Study Subgraphs Reference study will allow you to color between subgraphs of different studies.
