SC supports "Price Change Bar" chart setting - which tracks the number of price changes. Now, on a time bar (say 5-minute bar), is there a way to show the number of price changes during the 5-min period? I know there is a "number of trades" study, but how about a "number of price changes" study? Does this require an extra effort? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2015-04-03 18:05:14

support team, this is a simple question if there's such a study, be it built in or user contributed. It seems you could do this with 3 native studies: Uptick Volume Downtick Volume Study Subgraphs Add Hide the first two, add the first two with the third. |

tomgilb, are you saying uptick volume + downtick volume will do the trick? would you mind explaining your reasoning why adding them together gives us the number of price changes (probably an example)? they look to me completely different things. thank you! |

i tried your suggested method, but it does not seem to work. please see a 10 minute chart here: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1428111101758.png chart region 2: uptick volume + downtick volume chart region 3: plain volume they look just the same, with opening bar volume around 100,000 on the hand, per my cqg chart, number of price changes for a 10-min bar rarely goes beyond 2000.
