Feature request - Make line parallel to Pitchfork

When using Pitchforks a standard, universally used analysis method is to create Sliding Parallel lines that match the slope of the pitchfork. Right now those Sliding Parallels need to be created by drawing a new line and matching the slope of the pitchfork manually. Like all manual drawings it is prone to subtle errors.

It would be tremendously useful to be able to right click on a Pitchfork (or open the Pitchfork Chart Drawings Properties dialog box) and create a truly parallel line with a single click.

Thanks

This is already supported. You can add additional "Level %" to the pitchfork drawing configuration/properties.

A Sliding Parallel differs from what is supported because it can be manually moved around. Setting a percentage for this use would be difficult to do and take lots of trial and error. I've attached a chart with some examples. The red dashed lines are sliding parallels that repeatedly and accurately predict market support and resistance. Sliding Parallels can be found at varying distances from the original Pitchfork lines. The original Andrews Pitchfork study course and every Pitchfork analysis I've ever seen uses Sliding Parallels extensively.

Thanks for the reply.

Here's a page from Trading-Naked.com with a copy of a page from the original Andrews course and lots of examples:

Andrews used "SH" as shorthand for Sliding Parallel.

We are going to add the capability to make a line parallel to a pitchfork drawing, this should be out in the next one or two releases.

This is an excellent feature suggestion. I would prefer the right click on Pitchfork method for adding the parallel line. Add this in the list for the Customize Chart Drawing Menu. It would be great if you could add an option in the Pitchfork properties so that the user can customize the default location for the line placement.

You guys are amazing. Some other charting packages I've used require an act of Congress to add a feature. Thanks much.

I realize you have many fixes and features that are more pressing than this one, but I was wondering if it is still on you list for eventual implementation?

Thanks

This has been done a while ago. Make sure you are on the current version of Sierra Chart.

We have tested this now and it does work properly. Right-click on the line, select Make Line Parallel and then left click on one of the Pitchfork drawing lines to make the line parallel to the pitchfork lines.

I use this a lot, but my parallel line always goes askew if I change timeframes and then come back to original one. I have to manually hit make line parallel again and click on the fork.
Edit: It's always off IF I change the timeframe, not on the return to the original, it's still parallel then. It's just never parallel on other timeframes.

Just using the pitchforks level % to draw in parallel lines seems best and only good option then. It's not hard anyway, just a few trial and error clicks.

For some reason Make Line Parallel option is not present when I want to use it for pitchfork but it appears for other line drawings like line etc.. not a big deal just a info.

This makes sense, since one is usually not trying to make a pitchfork parallel to anything else. One wants to draw a line and then click make line parallel and point it to the fork. To make a parallel pitchfork to another just use copy and move drawing option on any fork.
