There are 5 Range Bar choices and I can't get any of them to do what I want but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. How do I construct a 10 pips range chart where for example 1.06500 to 1.06600 is the 10 pip range for each bar? |

The 'Range Per Bar - Standard' is the most commonly use one. Go to Chart >> Chart Settings and note the Tick Size. Tick size is the same as pip size. For the EURUSD, 1.06500 to 1.06600 would be 20 pips if the Tick Size is 0.00005 |

I've tried that and it's so huge that there are very few bars and the price scale starts at 0.90000 and goes up to 1.3000. It looks like 1000 pip candles! It shows 2.00000 Range as chart settings

What version # of SC are you using? Very old versions used points to set range bars, instead of ticks. Is the symbol EURUSD forex or the 6E futures? See attached for the settings on my chart. Notice it is a 0.00100 Range chart. |

tom that's perfect:) I thought the tick size was automatic. It was set at 0.10000. Copying your set up worked.

The Tick Size can be automatic, if the Symbol Settings are correct. There is an Edit Symbol Settings button on the Main Settings tab of the Chart Settings, or go to Global Settings >> Symbol Settings. See what the symbol shows. You can manually change it there, or you can update everything from you broker: Here's the documentation: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_GlobalSymbolSettings.php You might not want to do this if you've individually modified some settings of other symbols. After the Global Symbol Settings are correct, there is an Apply Global Symbol Settings button on the Main Settings tab of the Chart Settings. |
