Trying to run this study on day session data to draw the high/low lines for the closing bar of the previous trading session and the first two bars of the current trading session........so the high/low range of three consecutive bars one of which is from the previous day........but the study only seems to work if all the time frames of the bars are from the same day......is there a way around this? Or a different study that may accomplish this........I did not see any.....Thanks for your time....Jack

As we were looking into this, we realized that the problem is this:
With the High/Low for Time Period - Extended version of the study, the lines will be drawn beginning at the Start Time input and go to the end of the primary session as specified with the Session Times in Chart >> Chart Settings. The lines will not extend beyond of the end of the primary session. Therefore, if you have set the Start Time input with the study which begins in the prior day and the Session Start Time for the chart is set to 0:00:00, the lines will not extend beyond 00:00:00 in the chart.

So you need to adjust the Session Times.

ok.....I see how you have the study set up based on session times....the problem with changing the session times is that if I do that then suddenly I no longer have a chart showing just the primary session as it will now include over night data.......and will apply the study to this data also.

As an example let's use the corn contract and I just want a 5 min chart of only the primary session for the last 30 days......so session time is start at 9:30 and end at 14:14:59.

I want the study to draw the high/low lines on the range of only the 14:10 bar of the previous primary session (the last bar)....the 9:30 bar and 9:35 bar of the current primary session (the first two bars).......I do not want to consider any price action that occurred between 14:15 of the previous day and 9:29:59 of the current day. The lines would extend to the end of the current primary session at 14:14:59.

If I have read the instructions correctly.....and that's always a big if....haha.....there does not seem to be a way to use this study on a primary session only chart if you want to reference a time from the previous day. Which brings us back to the original question of is there a way around this limitation?

For what it's worth I can do this with the Time Range Highlight study to obtain vertical lines highlighting the 14:10, 9:30 and 9:35 bars........Jack

The only way around this is to modify the study to your requirements and this is not within the scope of our support.

These are very complex studies with the way that they work and we have no intention of changing them.

You could do this with the Spreadsheet Study study.
