I have received the email below - since it looks really clumsy I suspect that it is a scam.
Can you verify/look into this?

There is also nothing related to this on my account page or anywhere on the sierra site.

Thanks

Hello Dick de reus,

In order to comply with exchange requirements, it is necessary you complete the CME Non-Professional Certification:

https://www.barchart.com/register/

If this is not completed before the end of January 2015, it is not possible to renew the market data service.

It is not a scam. We did send this out and Barchart.com is the vendor of record for the data feed.

Barchart has told us what users need to complete the CME certification in order to meet exchange requirements.

What is clumsy about it? It is simple and straightforward.

We have also edited the link above since it is specific to your account.

-It just seems odd that I get redirected to another site in an email.
-I have no idea who barchart.com is (should I?)
-my username is NOT 90999_1
-'de reus' should be 'de Reus'
-what is CME non-professional Certification (should everyone know what that is?)
-no mention whatsoever of the involvement of SierraChart in the email at all.
-no link to the sierrachart site at all for a better explanation.
-somewhat 'threatening' language at the end (typical for scams)

So I look at the email and I have to decide, based upon what I see, if I'm going to press on the link that could seriously infect my PC and install all kinds nasty keystroke copiers.

What would you do?

Anyway, thanks for the confirmation.

Rgds

We should have made it clear in the email that Barchart.com is the vendor of record. Although you may have already known because the original forms filled out does have their name at the top of them.

The number is the numeric ID for your account.

The capitalization of your name is how you specified it in your account information:
https://www.sierrachart.com/usercp.php?page=ManageAccountInfo

We would assume you would have some understanding of the CME nonprofessional certification. But perhaps not.

And as far as the threatening language at the end, this is unfortunate, but we are just trying to do our best to induce users to complete the form because otherwise there gets to be compliance issues with the exchange.
