Hello,

I use Sierra Charts on Windows 7 Pro. I have never had any problems with it. Today I opened the program and it said that an update is available that I should go to "Help -> Download" so I did. I chose the "old spreadsheet" version, but I do not use that feature anyway. The update downloaded and ran successfully from what I could see. Now when I click the icon to start the application, it thinks about it for a second, but doesn't do anything after that. This PC only runs Sierra Charts and nothing else and has always worked just fine. I have tried several restarts, but no changes.

When I double-click the icon, literally nothing happens at all. This only started immediately after the update restart. Can I uninstall the update somehow?

Please help me get this fixed!

Thanks!

Thanks for the link! I tried running SierraChartSetupNoCLR.exe and that allows me to open the application again, so that seems like a positive step. Now my connection to Rithmic no longer works, which again has never had a problem even once. I thought maybe due to the re-install I need to login to R-Trader from Rithmic as the "initial" login that is required for Rithmic data feeds - But when I try it freezes when it gets to "Order connection started - 4 secs left" and that's it. So somehow a Sierra Charts update that I have attempted to rollback has broken Rithmic data feed as well. This is scary. Anyone have tips?

When you think that everything is broken it's time for a drink and rest.

It's Sunday. Ritmic order servers might as well be down.. relax

I hear you. I have checked and it looks like Rithmic servers are up and running. This issue is still occurring, and I'm dead in the water.

I have sent in the logs for review.

This appears to have resolved itself. Perhaps it was an outage with Rithmic and also a coincidental update. As far as I am concerned the problem can be closed, sorry for any time wasted.

This can be cancelled / deleted. I had to rebuild the Chartbook files to completely fix it.

You definitely do want to use the version of Sierra Chart with New Spreadsheets because it does not rely on Microsoft CLR which is apparently not installed on your system. This is the reason for the original problem where Sierra Chart was not starting.

So somehow a Sierra Charts update that I have attempted to rollback has broken Rithmic data feed as well.
This is not possible.

This makes no sense to rebuild the Chartbook to fix a Server connection problem or a chart updating problem. This is completely unnecessary unless the Chartbook was somehow causing Sierra Chart to completely freeze and be inoperable. For chart updating problems, refer to help topic 3:
