I open a chart and go to chart settings and for "number of days to load" select "1" and get the following result: ...... Seconds Remaining: 6060549. \| 2014-12-26 12:25:24 HD Request # 4 \| Requesting 1 Day of data at 30 secs with ending Date-Time at 2014-10-17 10:59:00 for GOOG \| 2014-12-26 12:25:24 HD Request # 4 \| Processing historical data message from TWS \| 2014-12-26 12:25:25 HD Request # 4 \| Received 2752 records and wrote 1920 records from 2014-10-15 18:59:00 to 2014-10-17 10:58:30. \| 2014-12-26 ....... It appears to be downloading a bunch of 1 days, but I want only 1 one day.

That setting does not control the amount of days downloaded from the data service.
