I have just upgraded to version 977 however, in the "orders and position window" the account balance is always zero.
(Upgraded from version 950)

Ok I am on FIX now, although I can see the account balance now, but the balance it is not updated while the trade is in progress.

I have tried FIX today again as the regular connection seems to be down today. however, the account balance still is not updating mid trade. Is this going to be fixed soon. Because of this I am still using SC version 950.

If it does not, then the FIX server is just not sending continuous account balance updates.

As FIX does yet have all the features of the old FXCM API please enable support for old FXCM API so that I can upgrade to the latest SC version (Please refer to my first post).

We have contacted FXCM about this. They need to provide a continuously updating balance over FIX.



We are bringing 100 percent to an end the very sad era with API components. For more information, read about this here:

So we will put no further time on the old FXCM API component. We will be removing all support for the old FXCM API component By the end of August 2013.

We did hear from FXCM and they seem to indicate that the account balance should be updating automatically over FIX. We established a position and flattened the position, and at that time, the account balance did update.

Thanks for following it.

The account balance updates after flatting the position with FIX. However, it is not updated whilst the trade is ON (active).

I have just switched to FIX as I am currently running a trade and the balance was not updating however, when I switched back to API it was working fine (SC version 950). I have tried the FIX with your latest version on Friday and it was not updating either.

I need the continuous update for my trade management and risk control algorithm I am running.

What we have observed is that over FIX a collateral report containing the account balance is sent only when there is an order fill.

One of our customers was interested in having this more often.

So we kindly suggest that you consider sending collateral reports at more regular intervals so the customer can see their account balance update.

Update to version 991 and let us know how the FXCM account balance now works over FIX for you. It updates at 30 seconds interval and whenever there is an order fill.

Hi,

I have tried it but unfortunately it still does not work.

Prior to taking a trade the account balance is accurate.

when I take a trade and whilst a trade is active the account balance is not updated i.e. it remains at its previous value.

When all the trades are flattened, the account balance is updated to the current value.

With FIX you can get only realized PnL to get unrealized PnL you will need to calculate it,
you need the current position value,
the way you can do it:
Unrealized PnL = (current price – open price) * point value * lots

Open Price – Tag(730), in case of FIFO type account it will be average open price.
point/pips value - look at http://www.fxtrademaker.com/fx_calculation.htm
Lots/quantity - use Tag(14) or Tag(38)
Current price – can be done with MarketDataRequest (page 39 in FXCM-FIX-BSI.pdf file)

Sierra Chart already calculates the Open Profit/Loss , and we assume you know how to access this in ACSIL. So you should be all set at this point.
