The functionality to allow a Quote Board to be attached within the main Sierra Chart window has been developed for about two months now. But it had not been released until 2026-09-08. Recently a user was telling us about an issue with Quote Board, involving the selection of multiple rows. In order to resolve that, as we looked at the code, we needed to do various code improvements and we then had to clean up all of the old unneeded code related to the old window functionality and just use the new window functionality. So we did not have to make these changes twice. So we had to release the new window functionality supporting attaching the Quote Board within the main MDI window but it had not been very well tested. This is the reason, for some of these recent problems. Anyway, this is the new functionality: Added support to allow a Quote Board to be attached within the main window. There is a new Quote menu on the main window title bar. By default a Quote Board is attached. It can be detached through Quote >> Settings >> Attach/Detach Window.
It needs to be understood that with the new Quote Board window functionality, that it functions like Charts and Spreadsheets. When a Quote Board is detached from the main window, it is a separate floating window on the system taskbar. It is not owned by the main Sierra Chart window. So it does not float on top of it when the main Sierra Chart window is active. However, the previous functionality will be implemented in upcoming release where a Quote Board, can be owned by the main Sierra Chart window and will be floating above it when the main Sierra Chart window is active. In the latest release 2956, it is now supported that when a Quote Board is detached from the main MDI window that it can float above the main window. That is done through enabling this option from the Quote Board menu: Settings >> Float Above Main Window when Detached (Enabled by default). This version also resolves all outstanding Quote Board issues. And this functionality will also be implemented for Charts and Spreadsheets as well. So this will be a new operating mode for those.
