**Subject: System Notification Message has not been updated since November 21, 2024 — Is this intentional?**

Hello Sierra Chart Engineering,

I would like to clarify an issue concerning the **System Notification Message**.

For a long time, this notification window was useful for informing users about new Sierra Chart versions and other important technical announcements.

However, my System Notification Message has contained exactly the same 10 messages for a very long time. The most recent one is dated **November 21, 2024**, and the oldest ones date back to February/March 2022.

The 10 messages currently displayed are:

* 2024-11-21 — Information about Automatic Payments
* 2024-08-27 — Notice concerning CBOE Futures/CFE data and the required Sierra Chart update
* 2024-07-09 — Notice concerning NASDAQ TotalView changes
* 2024-05-26 — Notice concerning CBOE Global Indexes
* 2024-05-02 — Notice concerning the Web-based Mobile Chat Application
* 2024-03-22 — Technical Notice regarding Alert Messages to Chat
* 2024-03-15 — Technical Notice regarding the requirement to use an up-to-date Sierra Chart version
* 2024-03-01 — US Equities real-time and delayed data feed announcement
* 2022-03-01 — Teton Order Routing Service announcement
* 2022-02-01 — NASDAQ TotalView data feed announcement

I initially suspected a problem with my local installation, so I performed several tests.

### 1. Original installation

My normal Sierra Chart installation is version 2939 (64-bit).

I renamed `SystemNotificationMessage.html` and restarted Sierra Chart. The file was recreated, but it contained exactly the same 10 messages.

I also tested starting Sierra Chart with the Internet disconnected. In that situation, the recreated HTML file was empty. After reconnecting to the Internet, it remained empty until Sierra Chart was restarted. After restarting with Internet access, the same 10 messages reappeared.

### 2. Configuration files

I temporarily replaced my active `Sierra4.config` with the `Sierra4.config` from a completely clean installation. The same 10 messages were displayed.

I also repeated the test with the `Data` folder from the clean installation. Again, exactly the same 10 messages were displayed.

### 3. Completely independent installation

I then installed Sierra Chart in a completely different directory, without transferring **any** files from my existing installation.

I entered only my Sierra Chart credentials.

The result was still exactly the same 10 messages.

### 4. Completely clean Hyper-V virtual machine

To rule out any possible Windows Registry or other system-level remnants, I installed Sierra Chart inside a completely new Hyper-V virtual machine that had never previously had Sierra Chart installed.

Again, exactly the same 10 messages appeared.

### 5. Trial installation without credentials

Finally, I performed another completely clean installation, this time using Sierra Chart in trial mode and **without entering any account credentials at all**.

Once again, the exact same 10 messages appeared.

Therefore, I believe the problem is not related to my installation, configuration files, Windows Registry, computer, or Sierra Chart account.

It appears to be coming from the Sierra Chart side.

I also noticed Support Board thread #102235 from October 2025, where another user reported seeing very old System Notification Messages. The screenshot attached to that thread appears to show essentially the same list of old messages.

In that thread, Sierra Chart stated:

> “These are just not removed. We do not remove them. Although we have not done a review of them in a while.”

This raises the following question:

### Is November 21, 2024 intentionally the date of the last general System Notification Message?

In other words:

**Are general Sierra Chart software-version announcements and other technical announcements no longer being distributed through the System Notification Message mechanism, with the system now being used mainly for dynamic/account-specific notifications such as payment or expiration notices?**

If this is intentional, then everything is working as designed and I would simply like to understand the current purpose of this notification mechanism.

If it is **not** intentional, could you please explain why no new general notifications have been added since November 21, 2024?

I would appreciate clarification, because this has made me believe for quite some time that my Sierra Chart installation was failing to receive System Notification updates, whereas the tests above strongly suggest that the same list is being supplied even to completely fresh installations.

Thank you.
