My acount disconnected even though my renewal was not until 2 weeks from now?

I check my sierra chart once a week on Fridays. Last Friday, I had a warning message that I didn't have enough funds to renew on the next renewal date in mid August. I ignored it thinking I had time. However today, I check it and there was a message (probably old at this point) that said I only had 2 hours of time left. I don't know when the message came but it was at least days ago, because I could see that trades I would have expected to happen did not happen. What happened here and what can I do to avoid it in the future?
