Flex Renko trend bars larger than the set Trend Offset

On Flex Renko charts (both the standard and Inverse Settings versions), the trend advance, the distance between consecutive trend bar closes, should be the fixed number of ticks set by my Trend Offset. But Sierra regularly plots trend bars whose advance is larger than that, usually double, sometimes triple.
I've verified Data is configured correctly for this (Intraday Data Storage Time Unit = 1 Tick, live tick-by-tick data, Split Data Records enabled, correct Tick Size), so that isn't the cause.

My question is simply: If the trend advance is set to X ticks, why does Sierra plot trend bars that advance/plot more than X? It would seem that every trend bar should advance by exactly the trend offset amount? Is this expected behavior, or is there a setting that keeps the trend advance consistent? See enclosed screenshot.

The reason it matters is I have other studies/oscillators that get thrown off when bars spike beyond the trend offset amount. It give a false reading to the oscillator. One of the advantages of Renko bars is that they can smooth out the price data. So when the bars are not behaving as the settings indicate, there is unnecessary noise in the renko bars which is problematic.

If Sierra Engineering says this is how it is, is the only solution for me to develop a custom ACSIL Renko bar style?
