If I scroll back on time on a chart, and then go to a new chartbook, and go back to the 1st chartbook, is there a setting that makes the chart return to the current time automatically, instead of remaining on the historical point I scrolled back to before switching chartbooks?

No, there is no particular function for this.

The only thing that comes to mind that could be causing this is Tools >>Synchronize Charts. Make sure that is disabled.

Unless there is a custom study causing that to happen. Custom studies can scroll charts.
