Hello, sorry - posted this my mistake in another place, whilst looking in vain for the answer. How can I have my PnF chart (or reversal bar chart), say in 15 minute periods, print and/or remove Xs or Os depending on the direction, for every price move on the last bar? It works on the Tick, but the chart is really worthless in such a short time-frame. Kind regards |

This is not completely clear to us what you are asking about. However, use Reversal bars: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ChartSettings.html#TimePeriodPerBar And make sure you have a tick by tick data configuration: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TickbyTickDataConfiguration.php If you are looking for something that is not standard, it sounds like it is not supported. If I choose a period of 1 minute, the price will move up and/or down for one minute, and if the bar has started with an X, it will print an extra X if it goes higher than previously. However, if it goes lower than the lowest X, it will not print anything at all. Of course, the opposite is true for Os. So, normally if the bar starts on an upward trend, it will print an X. If the price goes up one point, it will print the second X above it. However, if the price goes down 3 points, the Xs stay printed. I would normally expect them to disappear, and an O to be printed. Tick by Tick data is set up correctly. TimePeriodPerBar will only accept Days Minutes Seconds. |

Here is the Point and Figure Chart study documentation: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s140 The documentation explains how that study works. We recommend setting the underlying chart bars to 1 second per bar. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I have looked at this before, but it does not have Xs and Os. More than that, for some reason I cannot change the Chart settings->bar period to any other value than days-mins-secs per bar. I have "ignore last bar until completed" set to no. I cannot find the setting for "underlying chart bars". |

You can display the bars as Xs and Os by changing the Graph Draw Type on the Subgraphs tab in the Study Settings window for the Point and Figure Chart study. Set Chart >> Chart Settings >> Bar Period >> Days-Minutes-Seconds to 0-0-1. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I have this setting, and my chart shows Xs and Os, but I am using the PnF study. You talk about reversal bars being preferable. My bar period in the chart settings will not save any other type than the days-mins-secs. There is a reversal bar setting in the drop-down list, but apon clicking apply, it changes back again.

If you want to use the Point in Figure study then for it to be as accurate as possible, set Chart >> Chart Settings >> Bar Period >> Days-Minutes-Seconds to 0-0-1. This is all. The reversal Bar Period Type cannot be used with the Point and Figure study present on the chart.
